The Lord Mayors Parade is back and as fabulous as ever!
The three-mile long procession is a snapshot of the Square Mile bringing together the bygone era of English tradition and pageantry with the modern business City that is always looking to the future. This ranges from the military bands and livery companies with their proud heritage to the floats representing cutting-edge firms, along with community groups, charities and overseas organisations. It’s the City in one day with something to entertain everyone – it’s unique, unexpected, joyous and is never the same twice.
Some 7,000 participants, 200 horses and around 150 floats will travel from Mansion House to the Royal Courts of Justice and back. The centrepiece as always is the state coach the Lord Mayor travels in on the day – showing themself to the people, which was the original purpose of the Day, along with swearing an Oath of Allegiance to the sovereign at the Royal Courts of Justice.
So come along and be part of a spectacular procession that connects the traditions of London’s past to the modern-day world: a Show that represents the best of London.
We'll meet for breakfast at The Wetherspoons inside Cannon Streer Station and be ready to find a place to view the procession which starts at 11. This is a popular event so lets get a good spot! After the event St Pauls Cathedral is open for free on parade day so we can tour there of you would like.
I will see you inside The Wetherspoons at 8.30! :)
