What we’re about
Walking in and around Northamptonshire
Welcome! We are a group of working age people from in and around Northamptonshire who enjoy walking and socialising together. Our walks take place on Sundays, around two weekends a month. New members are warmly welcomed, so if you’re new to the area, looking to extend your social circle or would like someone else to take the map-reading strain, please come along and give us a go!
Our walking community
Our walks are free and led by an experienced, volunteer walk leader. Typically, we’ll walk 8 – 10 miles each walk, although we do offer shorter walks on a regular basis. We usually start walking at 10.30am in the morning, finishing around 3pm.
Our routes take us on field paths linking the beautiful villages and waterways of Northamptonshire, stopping for a welcome rest and a drink in a local pub along the way whenever the route allows.
In the summer we often venture further afield such as the Cotswolds, the Chilterns and the Peak District and also plan local evening walks. We also organise regular social events and trips away.
We publish an outline walks schedule on our Facebook page, and aim to publish more details around a month before the walk takes place on Facebook, MeetUp and the Go walking section Ramblers Walk Finder.

See all- Local Walk - Lamport, Old & Scaldwell, 9.5 miles, walk leader RayAll Saints Church Lamport, Lamport
Meet outside the All Saints church in Lamport. Please park responsibly in the small village (mainly on High Street), and be ready to start walking at 10:30am. This circular walk will leave Lamport and cross down onto the Brampton Valley Way for a short period, before going back up to the village of Hanging Houghton. Crossing the A508 we will then head over fields to first Scaldwell and then the village of Old, where we will have our lunch.
We will have our lunch near the White Horse in Old, and stop for a quick drink at the pub. There probably won’t be time to buy food from the pub, so please bring a packed lunch with you.
The afternoon walk will head North, passing the medieval village of Faxton, before following fields and tracks back to Lamport.
The total length of the walk is around 9.5 miles, with both morning and afternoon being roughly the same distance. There is an option to cut the afternoon walk a little short should the weather be poor.
Everyone is welcome, whether you’re an established member of the group or haven’t walked with us before. Note the walk is a mix of tracks and footpaths and may potentially be a muddy in places. Please wear appropriate clothing for walking in the country, and walking boots.Starting point - outside All Saints Church, Lamport
