Have you ever wanted to go to an art event, but wanted someone to share your enthusiasm with?
This group’s primary goal is to bring together art enthusiasts to visit the great venues that Fort Worth has in its Modern Art, Kimbell, and the Amon Carter museums. They have exhibited leading active artists working around the world today and historic greats. As things occur, we can bring up other events of interest in the FW area. Festivals, movies, and performances in Fort Worth will be shared. Some examples are the Kimbell and the Modern artist lectures and documentary films, the Day of the Dead Catrina Contest in Sundance Square, and Music on the Lawn at the Amon Carter. Someday, maybe an outing in Dallas. It's a matter of time, logistics and research for organizers.
This Meetup group is dedicated to exploring the world of fine art through day and night group trips to Fort Worth museums, galleries, and fine art events and occasional Zoom discussions about artists or exhibitions we cannot see in person. Whether you are an experienced art lover or a beginner wanting to learn more about art, this group can be for you. Join us for engaging discussions and educational tours about art of different periods and styles. Come and connect with fellow art enthusiasts, become art friends, expand your knowledge of the art world, and get involved with the Fort Worth art community. This is a group where friends come together and share their love of art.
I am Michael Gonzales, MFA. I am the current sole organizer and tour guide. I am an art professor, an exhibiting fine art photographer, and an engineer. As a group, we can discuss what you like about a work of art? Do you think the artwork is beautiful and why? We can discuss why it is successful, for its looks and the references found within it, its background, and the artist. What impact does it have on the audience today? Afterwards, we can grab a bite to eat someplace nearby and socialize. Let's have fun and relax with new friends.
Not every event will be the same. Some events will be to attend lectures, films, performances and demonstrations in which others will perform or talk to us based upon their expertise. We may attend a film series or art festival or fashion contest. Modern dance and music concerts? Yes, dance and music are 'ephemeral' arts. Finally, there are many things to do in DFW and even just FW. We cannot do them all and when we are aware of something that does not fit into the LTA schedule we will let you know. There are other fascinating groups doing good things.
Everyone is creative and can discuss creativity. Artist Joseph Beuys said, “Everyone is an artist.”
