What we’re about
LocalStack Community Events features virtual speaker sessions in and around LocalStack, local cloud development, AWS, DevOps toolings, and more! We also aim to connect technology professionals in the Cloud & DevOps space and discuss best practices, new tools & technologies, pitfalls, and more while striving to help developers build & test their cloud-native applications.
About LocalStack
LocalStack is a cloud development platform, focused on providing a better way to develop and test your cloud applications. LocalStack facilitates cloud application development on your local machine and across CI/CD by spinning up a local "cloud sandbox" that provides the same APIs and functionality as the real AWS cloud environment.
Speak at LocalStack Community Events
We seek virtual speakers and topics for our Community Events to build our meetup calendar. We are not just limited to LocalStack — Talks around AWS, Developer Productivity, Cloud Security, DevOps toolings, Development & Testing loops, and more would add great value to our members.

See all- Streamlined Cloud Workflows with Serverless Testing and Real-Time AnalyticsLink visible for attendees
Join us for our April meetup focused on simplifying modern cloud development with open-source tools. Kamesh Sampath will demonstrate how to build a real-time analytics pipeline locally using LocalStack, Apache Iceberg, and Streamlit—turning complex workflows into fast, reproducible steps. Manuel de la Peña will show how to run reliable integration tests for Go-based Lambda functions using Testcontainers and LocalStack, enabling fast, isolated testing without cloud credentials. Whether you're visualizing data streams or validating serverless apps, this session will help you build and ship with confidence.
Stream, Store, Ship: Fast-Track Real-Time Analytics the OSS Way by Kamesh Sampath
Most developers hit a wall of complexity when starting with streaming analytics - wrestling with configurations, compatibility issues, and integration challenges. This session by Kamesh Sampath demonstrates how choosing the right open-source tools creates a clear path to building real-time analytics pipelines in minutes, not weeks.
Through a live demonstration, he’ll build a complete streaming pipeline on a laptop. You'll learn essential patterns for integrating data sources, configuring storage, and creating real-time visualizations. The session provides practical steps to set up a local development environment that mirrors production architecture, using open-source tools like LocalStack, Apache Iceberg and Streamlit.
You’ll learn about the following:
- Configuring local streaming development environment
- Integrating data sources and sinks
- Implementing Iceberg for data storage
- Building real-time dashboards with Streamlit
- Understanding production deployment patterns

Lambda in a Box: Real Integration Tests with LocalStack and Go by Manuel de la Peña
Deploying to AWS Lambda shouldn't feel like flying blind. In this talk, Manuel de la Peña shows how to test your Go-based Lambda functions locally and reliably—before shipping to the cloud.
Through a live demonstration, you’ll explore how to use Testcontainers-Go to spin up LocalStack on the fly, mocking AWS services like Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB in full isolation. You’ll see real-world examples of how to:
- Package and deploy a Lambda function using Testcontainers
- Know the information where the Lambda function is deployed using AWS CLI within the container
- Validate end-to-end behavior with real integration tests
- Avoid using cloud credentials during testing
- Create fast, repeatable, real-world Lambda testing directly from your test suite
Whether you're building serverless apps or just want more confidence in your cloud integration tests, this talk will give you the tools to test smarter, not harder.
