Hello!
Welcome to the fourth meeting of the Page Turners Anonymous book club! We are a super laid back book club focusing on unconventional books (Idk what this means but it sure doesn't mean the normal books you would read at any other book club!). For our third meeting we are going to be discussing a pretty brutal but engaging book FantasticLand by Mike Bockoven. A group of young employees are left behind in one of America's largest themepark. Now the only problem is that the largest hurricane in recorded history is about to hit the state of Florida. How will uncertainty about their rescue and fear of others affect them?
This is in my top 5 books ever and is written in a sparsely used format, the mockumentary. Hang on, cause this is a wild ride.
I want to emphasize that this is not a very high-stakes book club. What I mean by that is that I do not expect a doctoral thesis about the themes and symbology of the book. I just want you to focus on your favorite characters, scenes, and how you related to the book. This does not mean you can skate on by not reading the book. You are still expected to both contribute to the discussion and socialize with the other members. I think socialization and making friends with each other is the keystone to a good book club more so than the books.
We are going to meet at Trademark Brewing. They have an incredible selection of food and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic)! I will reserve a seat for everyone. Please do try to arrive on time as it would make the discussion easier.
Everyone is welcomed here! All I ask is that you are kind and respectful to others. Again, the foundation to a good book club are its members. So please lets just treat each other like good friends. You may be asked to leave the club if you do not follow these stipulations.
Note: Since this is a new meetup group we are capped at 10 attendees. So please honor your RSVP. A book club cannot thrive without active members.
