What we’re about
Welcome to Long Island Ladies Having Lunch and Making Friends!
LONG ISLAND LADIES HAVING LUNCH IS NOT TAKING NEW MEMBERSHIPS AT THIS TIME. EVENTS ARE FULLY BOOKED. PLEASE CHECK BACK IN THE FUTURE TO SEE IF NEW MEMBERSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE.
Long Island Ladies Having Lunch & Making Friends is a small group. We are modern, youthful, intelligent and tasteful women 55 and better. We are positive, upbeat, optimistic and fair. We want to develop lasting friendships with like-minded women.
We are primarily a weekday lunch group. Lunches will often be at nicer restaurants. Most events will be in western Suffolk County. We'll also plan early dinners/happy hours, crafting, walks as well as other events. Events begin promptly at the posted start time.
You will not be invisible, alone or ignored in a large group. Events are typically limited to 6-8 attendees. To ensure that all attendees have a chance to be involved, events may have a "starter question".
YOU MUST HAVE WEEKDAY, LUNCH TIME AVAILABILITY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO BE CONSIDERED FOR MEMBERSHIP.
New members get a 30-day trial period. If we are a good fit, you will be asked to pay a yearly fee (currently $12.00). This helps cover costs charged by meetup. You are responsible to know when your dues must be paid. It isn't fair to the organizer to have to chase or nag someone for their dues. Meetup removes members and deletes RSVPs automatically when dues are not paid. If your membership is unpaid for more than 30 days without communication or explanation, you may be fully removed from the group.
Please understand that not all membership requests are approved.
THE FOLLOWING "DO'S" AND "DON'TS" ARE TAKEN SERIOUSLY:
Important "Do's":
Do participate, attend events and be on time. Be computer & app savvy. Respond to messages and communicate in a timely manner. Be inclusive, fair, warm, welcoming and respectful. Be positive, cheerful & upbeat at our events. Read and review the group page regularly. If there is illness or an emergency, please try to give 4 hours cancellation notice and communicate if possible.
Important "Don'ts":
Do not cancel often, cancel at the last minute, be a no show, regularly arrive late or engage in cliquish behavior. Do not crash events (showing up without an RSVP or getting a separate table).
All of these are unfair and disruptive to our members.
If you have more cancelations than events attended in a 3 month period, you may be required to put down a deposit to hold your RSVP. This deposit would be applied to your tab at the event when you attend, but not be refunded if you cancel again.
When requesting to join, YOUR FACE MUST BE CLEARLY VISIBLE IN YOUR PROFILE PHOTO. YOU SHOULD BE THE ONLY PERSON IN THE PICTURE.
We will use the traditional 1.3 method for settling our checks.
Keep track of the cost of what you order (the sub-total), then multiply that by 1.3.
This will cover your entire tab including tax and tip.
You are responsible to know how to do this.
I look forward to everyone being warm, welcoming, considerate, and getting along. We are going to have some great times. It is important that we be fair and respectful of all members. Politics, religion and other polarizing topics should be avoided. Business should not be solicited or conducted at events.
If approved, you are expected to check this group's page regularly, as policies may change.
If you do not agree with or adhere to the above policies, you may remove your membership or be removed.
I look forward to lunching and having fun together!
