The modern lifestyle involves lots of sitting and straining of the neck, shoulders, and eyes. This is a restorative movement class designed to release tension and improve mobility, specifically targeting the neck, shoulders, and hips. Through a combination of gentle, flowing Qigong exercises, participants will learn to reduce the strain caused by prolonged sitting and poor posture. The class emphasizes breathwork, mindful stretching, and specific movements to alleviate discomfort from "tech neck" (neck stiffness and pain) and tight hips, promoting overall relaxation and increased energy flow. You will learn how to breathe better so as to reduce tension throughout the day, and also learn the Microcosmic Orbit meditation to calm the mind and body.
What is Qigong?
Qigong is a mind-body-spirit practice that originated in China thousands of years ago. It is a holistic practice that combines movement, breathing, meditation, and posture to improve health and well-being. Qigong is based on the idea that "qi" (life force) flows through the body in meridians, and that focusing on a specific part of the body can direct the flow of qi there. Qigong is said to have many health benefits, including:
- Reducing stress
- Improving cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, and digestive functions
- Easing pain from joint conditions

Posture, balance, awareness, and breathing are the key compliments of Tai Chi training. The list of benefits of Tai Chi is long, and slowing the process of aging is one of my favorites.
