What we’re about

Join our new book club! From classic literature to contemporary bestsellers, we will be exploring various genres and authors. Whether you're a seasoned reader or just starting your reading journey, our club offers a welcoming space to share insights, exchange perspectives, and connect with new people.

We will be reading one book per month and meeting locally at 7pm on the last Wednesday of each month to discuss over a glass of wine or a cup of tea/coffee.

We are keen to explore lots of different genres so are very open to suggestions.

As our next book club will be near Halloween we have chosen a spooky book (although according to reviews it is not too scary!!).

The Haunting of Hill House is a 1959 gothic horror novel by American author Shirley Jackson. It was a finalist for the National Book Award and has been made into various films / TV shows.

Hunting for evidence of the occult, Dr Montague invites three participants to Hill House: Theodora, his lovely assistant; Luke, set to inherit the estate; and Eleanor a fragile young woman with a troubled past. As The House takes hold, Jackson plumbs the depths of the human condition, asking the electric question: will any of them make it out?

It is available kindle / audiobook and a cheap paperback should be relatively easy to get your hands on.
