What we’re about
Hello witches, wizards, and wonderful people. Welcome to Malliway's Guild of Magic, our community page for the talented magicians in our community.
This group is the counterpart to our other group, The Witches' Conclave, where we teach classes and lead rituals. Here, other practitioners of the magical arts can sign up to host classes, workshops, and rituals of their own to be hosted in our shop, Malliway Bros.
Setting Up an Event:
If you are interested, then send us a message with this questionnaire and we'll see what we can do!
- 1. What is the name of the event?
- 2. Can you write a short paragraph description of the event?
- 3. What dates would work for you? At least 3 weeks leadup would be best.
- 4. How long do you want the event to go? We usually suggest around 2 hours.
- 5. Do you have an image for the meetup event? Or do you want us to find one? Size is around 1200 x 675 px
- 6. What is your fee for the class? How do you want to get paid? Venmo, paypal, eventbrite, etc.
- 7. How many people do you want to cap it at? We always try to keep it under 20 for things starting after the shop closes and around 6 for when the shop is open.
Fee:
We charge $50 to use the space. If people attending your event spend at least $50 at the shop, though, you will not owe us any money. As long as the shop is fed then you're good.
We're excited to see what magic you have to share and hope to see what y'all come up with!
The Super Fun Group Disclaimer
Malliway Bros is not directly responsible for any of the events posted in this group, so specific questions about any events posted need to be directed to the event facilitator. Blake, Wycke, and the shop associates will be unable to answer any questions about these events.

See all- The Legend of Sleepy Hollow PerformanceMalliway Bros. Spells, Charms, & Potions, Chicago, IL
From the team that brought you, “An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe,” comes a new concept based on another classic American spooky tale:
“The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” by Washington Irving, performed by candlelight in its entirety by actor/orator Alastair Morley Jaques.
The story follows the newly appointed schoolmaster of Sleepy Hollow, Ichabod Crane. One dreary autumn night, Ichabod hears the tale of the ghost of a decapitated Hessian soldier doomed to roam the nearby countryside with a Jack-o-lantern for a head! Later, devastated after a failed marriage proposal, Ichabod experiences the phantom first hand when he’s knocked off his horse by a flaming pumpkin. The notorious ghost known as The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow is no children's myth!
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow was first published in 1820 along with Rip Van Winkle and is one of the first examples of enduring American Fiction.
The dramatic recitation lasts 75 minutes without an intermission and is appropriate for adults and children ages 8+.
Alastair Morley Jaques is an actor, orator and Episcopal sexton based in Portland, Oregon. He is known for his portrayals of Edgar Allan Poe over the past decade and his many appearences in Shakespeare’s plays all across the Pacific Northwest. He is ecstatic to return to Chicago after a sold out run of “An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe” last spooky season.
The story will be told by flameless candlelight; there will be no open flames.
Ticket Prices: $12 early bird. $15 adv. $20 day of show.
