What we’re about
Welcome to MAMC, Manchester's dedicated MeetUp that consists of all three anime, manga and comic components and converts them into relevant social events. As someone whose childhood and adolescence partially consisted of delving into the worlds of graphical print and animation, originating from the Western and Eastern continents, this group is a reflection of one of my past time hobbies and what I dabble in presently when adult life permits!
Some of our most attended socials revolve around anime and comic conventions, such as the long established annual Comic Con Manchester, and related anime cons within the city, such as the first one we held at the Anime and Gaming Con at Sudgen Sports Centre. We'll also be taking advantage of the odd occasion when a beloved bookstore hosts a new comic/manga series launch and author's Q&A talk. Catch the latest of anything still decent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and cherry picking the good from the ugly in downtown DC. Watch anime seasons masquerading as movies in between waiting for the next season to officially begin. Brunch at Maid Cafe's and stroll around nerdy shops to pick up some much needed fan merch. Have nerdy discourse and debate at a gaming bar and take part in the quizzes!
Even though it has experienced a massive surge in the past two decades, the culture revolving around cartoons is still a pretty niche one, so if anybody has any suggestions of what we could do as graphic novel enthusiasts and beyond, please let us know and it could soon feature as a future event!
If anyone is keen on organising events within a shared co-hosting role, please feel free to drop us a message about becoming an Events Organiser, we would love to have you on board!
Please be aware, photography will be taken at our events. If you wish to not be part of this, please let an organiser know.

In a decaying city, a little girl takes care of a large egg which she believes was laid by an angel, and crosses paths with a gun-toting young man searching for a bird he saw in a dream.
Returning for its 40th anniversary, we are thrilled to have the Director-approved 4K re-release of 1985's Angel's Egg coming to our screens. An early insight into the creative talents of writer-director Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell) and artist Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy, Vampire Hunter D), this cult classic science-fantasy anime is not to be missed.

Stranger Things Cafe and Christmas Shopping @ Primark + Afflecks (Sun 23rd Nov)
Primark Arndale, 106 - 122 Market Street, Manchester, GBThe final season of Stranger Things is right round the corner and so is that time of year when we get our Chrimbo pressies ready (or bag ourselves a treat or two), so let's get munching at the Primark Cafe and then down to sifting through Afflecks' various independent shops!
Feel free to join in and leave at any point throughout the afternoon (just make sure to leave us a comment to let us know in advance!), if there is enough interest we can also visit any adjacent shops like The Forbidden Planet, Travelling Man and even the Christmas Markets.
This social is a joint one with the Manchester Metalheads Meetup.
"Transport yourself back to 1983 in our new Primark café with Stranger Things! Serving up a mouthwatering range of tasty meals and drinks, get ready to take a bite from our menu that’s inspired by the Netflix Emmy Award–winning series’ most iconic moments.
## Primark café with Stranger Things theme
Designed to transport you to a new dimension, eagle-eyed fans will instantly recognise the red and black letter print revamp to our usual Primark café decor. Surrounding the kiosk, booths and tables, you’ll find backdrops filled with your favourite characters, locations and supernatural motifs from the previous seasons — perfect for a post-snack photo opportunity!
## What food is offered at our Primark café with Stranger Things?
Let’s be real: there’s nothing better than indulging in some warm, comfort food before or after an adventure. Featuring a scrumptious American-inspired range of hot dogs, classic pizza options and tater tots, you and your mini me can refuel with our savoury menu. Pair it with our classic selection of hot and cold drinks, or shake things up with our new fruity, iced Nosebleed Matcha.
We couldn’t introduce a dessert menu without referencing the Scoops Ahoy parlour! Sundae, cookie or brownie, choose your hero and pick your toppings at the kiosk to sprinkle on top. Our choice of sweet treat? The Void. Despite the spooky name, the combination of black vanilla ice cream, with cream and gummy sweets, make for a tasty delight that the family (and your social media feed!) will enjoy!"
