A group for adults in the Manchester area interested in playing basketball in a non-coached, non-refereed setting. The group is open to all ages (18+) and genders. These are pickup basketball sessions and not designed for teaching the basics. If you're a true beginner the sessions are probably not going to be very enjoyable for you.
We try and run 3-4 sessions a week. These are at various facilities depending on what's available, so always (always) check the place and time of the session because sometimes they change even after initially being posted.

We typically run two-hour, half-court 4v4 sessions. The cost per attendee varies depending on the venue, but is usually around £4-6. The fees cover, in the first place, the cost of hiring the courts -- any extra is then put back into the group by covering Meetup site fees, buying bibs and balls etc. In the event any money is left over it will be used to go towards a round (or two) of drinks at one of our socials.
If you're new and attending your first session you likely will get a message asking you for your height and experience level, which helps us arrange somewhat balanced teams for the session. When you get to the court, you'll likely see a printed list of teams, directing you which colour bib to wear.
To make the running of the sessions as easy as possible and to keep quality high we have set out a few administrative rules and guidelines, as follows:
Two hour sessions are limited to 20 attendees. This is done to make sure that sessions aren't too crowded and that everyone gets decent playing time, sign-ups are first come first served.
On RSVPing to a session you will be asked to pay the fee for attending via Paypal, if you have to change your RSVP you will be refunded as long as it is done at least 12 hours before the session. Cancellations less than 12 hours before a session will not be refunded. This is done to give those on the waiting list adequate time to adjust their plans and/or RSVP response. If you don't have PayPal, you can send a message to an organiser, who can add you to the attendee list and you can pay cash at the session.
