- Board Games at The Old Monkey, Portland Street - Every Other MondayThe Old Monkey , Manchester
We meet upstairs at the Old Monkey on Portland Street every other Monday. Games start throughout the evening so get there before 7:30pm and you should be fine.
Food isn't available but they are fine with you ordering a delivery or bringing food in :D
We play everything from casual party games to complex strategy and euros. Everyone is welcome from beginners to hardcore enthusiasts. There's always a rules explanation and we try to help new players as they play. If you come alone or with friends we'll try to match you up with players of a suitable level, as required.
We're a community-led night and though we usually have plenty of games, we can never get too many - especially games people know well enough to teach - so bring 'em, if you have 'em!

Join us for an evening of fun, food and friendly company at The Lloyds, Chorlton. We play everything from casual party games to the latest in cutting edge strategy. It's an evening guaranteed to stimulate and entertain!
We don't charge for this event and there's no need to book, just come along on the night. If you're new to board games, people are always happy to explain the rules and get you up to speed. If you can't make it on time, games start throughout the evening. Turn up when it's good for you and we'll fit you in somewhere!
Typically, 20-50 attend with 5-10 games in progress at any time. Don't pay too much attention to how many sign up here. This event is advertised on Facebook and multiple meetup groups. Most regulars don't sign up at all!
Some of the Games We've Played
Coup - Concordia - Code Names - Decrypto - War of the Ring - Beyond the Sun - Heat: Pedal to the Metal - Cryptid - Wingspan - So CloverAnd many more!
Like many games nights, we are entirely dependant on the games people bring. So, if you have some favourites you think you can teach, please do! <3
If you're lucky enough to be under 18, please bring an adult. If you're game, we are. Hope to see you there!

Just a reminder for this month's the Cheadle Board Room. Full details are here on Facebook. This event isn't organised by the "Manchester Board Game Legends" meetup group so please check the CBR event listing on Facebook for full details.
This is probably the region's longest standing (over 10 years) and biggest free to attend event, with over 80 gamers on any one weekend, spread over two floors on the Upper Room Cafe in Cheadle. It starts at 9:30 in the morning and ends at 8pm in the evening, but I wouldn't recommend turning up after 5 unless you can contact someone inside. They close the entrance doors at 5 and attracting someone's attention to let you in can be somewhat of an issue, since the event takes place on the first floor!
The entrance is to the rear of the Tesco Express on Wilmslow Road in Cheadle. Food is very reasonably priced and lunch will typically cost you around £5-£6. The cafe stops taking orders at 2pm. There are plenty of very high quality cafés, restaurants and takeaways nearby and CBR will let you bring in food that you've bought elsewhere.
It is easy to get to by car and, in many cases, will take less time than getting into the city centre. Park in the Massie Street Car Park for easiest access. Free parking after 6pm. Public transport is probably easiest via train from the town centre, but it's important to head to GATLEY station, rather than Cheadle.
If you type Cheadle Board Room into google maps, it will give you directions.
