What we’re about
Welcome to the Manchester LGBTQ+ Meetup! This is a group geared towards ALL in the LGBTQ+ community. Everyone is welcome, including our fabulous allies! 🌈❤️
We try to create a safe, welcoming space for anyone who wants to get acclimated to the area, find friends with whom to enjoy social activities, and make lasting connections. If you don't have many lgbtq+ acquaintances yet, are isolated or lonely, or feel you are unable to be your true authentic self for fear of being judged by straight friends and acquaintances then you are the MVP here! If you feel comfortable to do so, please feel free to make yourself known to one of the organisers so we can make especially sure you will feel comfortable and welcomed here. Or if anyone feels nervous about coming to such a meetup, feel free to send one of the organisers a direct message via meetup, and we can discuss any reservations you may have.
This group has a zero tolerance for gatekeeping. The LGBTQ+ community includes (but is not limited to) Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Asexual, Intersex, and Pansexual. We assume everyone who joins has the best intentions and will do their own research and learning. If you promote hateful opinions, this isn't the group for you.
🤝 Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to get something from this group. If you have a disability that you feel may affect your ability to attend or enjoy our meetups, we would really appreciate a direct message with your thoughts on how we can improve. At the moment we have a mix of events that are accessible or inaccessible. All events hosted by Steph-Lani are accessible. Please contact them if you have any access needs or concerns.
Where known, accessibility information is included in the event description. If you have suggestions for places where we can host an accessible Meetup, then please please get in touch with Steph-Lani or Rae!
❤️ Help and support
We created a full list of links and resources to lgbtq+ charities for anyone who is struggling or experiencing any difficulties (it's a bit outdated now though), please check them out and don't be shy to get in touch with any of them!

Welcome to the group, we look forward to seeing you soon! ❤️🌈
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Book Club: Significant Others by Armistead MaupinLGBT Foundation, Manchester
Our book club event brings together LGBTQ+ readers from across generations to discuss Armistead Maupin's celebrated series.
NB Please note that this event is organised by the LGBT Foundation and I am not running a sign up list on Meetup. To attend please visit Eventbrite and book a ticket for the event.
NB If you are planning to attend please pop a note in the event discussion. If you are attending in person and you are not sure where the LGBT Foundation Community Hub is please direct message me.
Info.:
In January we will be discussing the fifth book in the much-celebrated series ‘Significant Others’. Hurdling barriers both social and sexual, Maupin leads the eccentric tenants of Barbary Lane through heartbreak and triumph, through the nail-biting terrors and gleeful coincidences in 1980s San Francisco.
This event is open to anyone aged 18+, participants can choose on the day to join online via zoom or in person at LGBT Foundation’s Community Hub at Fairbairn House.
To be part of this session, please book a ticket and read the book before the event. The Tales of the City series is widely available from local booksellers and libraries as a paperback and online as an ebook or audiobook. We welcome new readers to the group, you do not have to have attended previous events.
This event has been produced by the Pride in Ageing programme at LGBT Foundation. If you have any questions about accessing this event please contact prideinageing@lgbt.foundation.
Not open - Kiki Board Game Family meet up @ The Foundry Project! ʕ•̀ᴥ•́ʔっ🎲🎲Foundry Project Manchester, Manchester
Are you an old timer with board games looking for people to play with or looking to try some new games? Or a newcomer interested in board games but doesn't know where to start? Or simply looking for something chill and exciting to fill your Monday evening? Well, fab! There is a weekly meetup for board games which we occasionally invade (some of us are regular attendees of the event)!
This event is suitable for inexperienced and experienced players - lots of games to choose from to suit all styles!
This event has a good number of regulars, so don't be discouraged by low numbers on the event page, people tend to only RSVP the first time!
-------------
The Foundry Project is an accessible venue, but this is TBC.
-------------
- What we normally do:
We will be at The Foundry Project from 6:30 pm, to socialise (and get food, if needed) before board games start at 7 pm. The event lasts typically for 3 to 4 hours, however, people do come and go whenever they want!
- Who to look for:
We will be hanging around from 6:30 pm for food, drinks, and some kiki. You will find Dan there dressed in a nerdy T-shirt, usually to the right of the bar area in a small enclosed container area reserved for the event.
- Fee:
There is a fee of £2 to come to this (it doesn't go to us, but to the people who hire the venue and supply the games).
-------------
This is a regular event run by the D&F Games Nights and not directly by us, however, we are a bunch of regulars (LGBTQ+ & Allies) who go weekly and think it would be really cool to have you join us! You can follow D&F Games Nights on social media:

- 🏳️⚧️ Trans & Non-binary fitness: Misfits Circuits 🏋️🏃Needs location
This is a weekly event run by external organisers (Not A Phase) specifically for trans and non-binary folk of all fitness levels and experience. If you'd like to know more about Misfits or Not A Phase, then check out their website. Leave a comment or send a DM if you'd like to meet up beforehand or if you have meetup specific questions. The receptionist staff are friendly and will direct you where to go if you're unsure.
This is a weekly event on Meetup but the Meetup host may not always be there, however the classes will still be running.
Classes are free but please create an account and sign up to the circuits class on the Not A Phase website first.
The address is hidden on here but you will find it on the website when signing up. The post code is M16.
- LGBTQ+ Bachata Class and SocialTerrace NQ, Manchester
Join our free queer friendly dance class and social!
Classes are free to attend and open to beginners and experienced dancers. So if you wanna try something new, or always wanted to try salsa but never got round to it, let's learn and have fun together! You'll find us in Terrace NQ (go to the stairs at the very back and up one floor), Thomas St., Manchester.
The entrance to the venue can be a little tricky to find as it doesn't clearly say "Terrace NQ". Here are some links to images:
You can find our social media accounts and chat groups here.
8:00 - 9:00 Beginner Dance Class
9:00 - 10:00 Social dancing and chat
Get in touch with a host if you have any questions or concerns. ♥️
Note: This event is advertised on several different sites and there are many people who come without registering here. So the number of people this site shows as coming is under-representing the actual attendance. Even if the event is showing as only one person attending (or even no people), the event will still be going ahead. We have never had to cancel due to lack of interest.
