What we’re about
The Manitoba Women in Tech Meetup Group (#MBWiTech) is a fun, monthly get-together for women working in tech who enjoy networking with other supportive people who understand what it's like to work in the tech community.
The #MBWiTech Meetups are non-profit, agenda-free, and gender-inclusive. Together with our allies, we support each other, share experiences, applaud accomplishments, and promote tech activities in a safe and judgement-free environment.
We invite you to drop in and enjoy getting to know others who understand you: developers, designers, students, project managers, founders, and anyone else working within the tech sector.
We are a safe space for existing or aspiring tech professionals. Please take a moment to review our CODE OF CONDUCT before attending our events: https://bit.ly/3n8FHCD

Reputation Risk Management: How Your Digital Footprint Shapes Your Personal and Professional Brand
Overview:
In today’s hyperconnected world, what people discover about you online is your brand. Whether you’re a tech entrepreneur, a corporate leader, or an early-career professional, your digital presence can either open doors or close them. Nicole Harris, Founder & CEO of Solv Communications, a Reputation Management and PR agency, will show you how women in tech can shape their own narrative for success.Let’s face it, perception shapes opportunities and the way we are seen influences promotion, projects and leadership roles. Instead of allowing others to define us, we must take control of our own narrative and actively manage our reputation online and offline.
Agenda:
11:45 am - Networking
Noon - Indigenous Land Acknowledgement & Welcome
12:05 pm - Nicole's presentation
12:30 pm - Q & A
12:45 pm - Networking
1:15 pm - All done!Objective
By the end of this talk, you will learn:- How your online presence influences your career and brand.
- Strategies to safeguard your digital and real-world reputation.
- Lessons from successful women in tech who have shaped their own success stories.
Why this Matters
Did you know that 70% of employers and clients research professionals online before making hiring or partnership decisions? That means that before you even walk into an interview, pitch a project, or apply for a job, people have already formed an impression of you based on what they see online.Women in tech often have to work harder to establish credibility. This means that how we present ourselves online can directly impact on our opportunities and professional trajectory. A single misstep – a controversial post, an outdated profile, or an unguarded comment – can have lasting consequences.
Nicole Harris of Solv Communications will show you how your online presence influences your career and brand. You will also learn strategies to safeguard your digital and real-world reputation and gain insights from successful women in tech who have shaped their own stories.
Who should attend:
- Women in Tech & Allies – Build credibility, gain visibility, and support inclusive workplaces
- Newcomers to Canada – Stand out in a competitive job market and establish your professional brand
- Students & Early-Career Professionals – Make a strong first impression and accelerate your career
- Tech Entrepreneurs & Leaders – Manage your public image, attract opportunities, and position yourself for success
About our speaker:
A former television anchor and journalist, Nicole Harris knows the power of a great story – and how to own it. After years in front of the camera delivering daily headlines, she traded in the news desk for an even greater calling: Helping people and brands craft narratives that connect, inspire, and protect their reputation.Today, Nicole is the Founder of the dynamic PR and Reputation Management agency, Solv Communications, which is known for protecting and promoting brands by turning complex challenges into clear, compelling communication strategies.
During her 25-year career, Nicole has provided strategic communications to the President of Iceland; she’s promoted tech companies at the Consumer Electronic Show in Vegas, debuted an international food company at the NASDAQ in New York and conducted national PR for two Amazing Race Canada winners.
With an unwavering belief in empowering others and sharing what she’s learned throughout her career, Nicole has contributed her time to various boards and volunteer initiatives – including Junior Achievement, where she mentors students on business and financial literacy. Nicole believes confidence and knowledge are the best kind of currency.
When she’s not helping clients shape their public image, you’ll find her on the links with friends and family (she swears her “birdie swagger” is real). Off the course, she’s an avid pit master who loves getting saucy with her BBQ crew, and come football season, she’s a diehard fan who runs on pizza, coffee, and touchdowns.
Equal parts strategist, storyteller, and hype woman, Nicole Harris brings heart, humour and hustle to everything she does.

We’re excited to have Nicole speak with us and look forward to her insights on how our members can safeguard their online reputation while shaping the narrative of their own story!
