In April the Hiawassee Book Club will discuss The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride.
1972: Workers unearth a skeleton in the small, close-knit community of Chicken Hill, Pennsylvania. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side. When the truth is finally revealed about what happened on Chicken Hill and the part the town’s white establishment played in it, McBride shows us that even in dark times, it is love and community—heaven and earth—that sustain us.

Focus on Books: Fantasy
Join us bi-monthly for a lively forum on books. In each session, we explore a different genre. This month we will be focusing on Fantasy. Recommended for ages 18 and up.
Focus on Reading is Windermere's topic-based book club. It meets once a month and alternates between fiction and non-fiction topics. The fiction sessions are called Focus on Books. The Non-fiction sessions are called Focus on Hobbies.
