Hello! 안녕하세요! This is a group for all those interested in exchanging English and Korean. All levels are welcome (but you will definitely get more out of these meetings if you can at least read and write in both Korean and English).
We meet in Koreatown every Saturday from 2pm to 5pm, and every Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm. We also hold other events (like dinners, barbeques, beach days, hiking, 노래방), which have less emphasis on studying and more emphasis on socializing.
We are serious about language exchange. You can expect to practice speaking and listening on a variety of topics. Feel free to bring a notebook and study materials. Practicing with native speakers is a great way to improve your fluency in any language.
Making friends through this meetup is encouraged, but our primary goal is to practice languages. This group is not for finding a boyfriend or girlfriend. Please do not join if that is your intention.
We are trying to create a community that is helpful and welcoming. As such, harassment of any type is unacceptable and is grounds for immediate dismissal from the group. If you experience any type of harassment at one of our events, please come talk to the organizers immediately
Please note:
This group has become somewhat popular. We usually have 300+ people on the waitlist (waiting to join the group) at any given time. We do need to limit the quantity of members and maintain a balance of the different types of participants. It may take some time for you to get approved. Sorry for the inconvenience. You are less likely to be accepted if you do not have a real profile picture of yourself. Having a picture of yourself helps us identify you at our events (it's important, at least for the first few times you come out).

저희 그룹은 영어와 한국어를 교환하고 싶은 모든 분들을 위한 곳입니다. 두 언어를 구사하는 모든 레벨의 참여를 환영하지만, 특히 한국어와 영어 모두 읽고 쓸 수 있는 수준이면 이 모임에서 더 많은 도움을 받을 수 있을 거에요.
저희는 정기적으로 매주 토요일 오후 2시부터 5시까지, 그리고 매주 수요일 저녁 7시부터 9시까지 코리아타운에서 만나고 있습니다. 또한 다른 이벤트도 함께 여는데요, (저녁 식사, 바비큐 파티, 해변, 등산, 노래방 등) - 이러한 이벤트는 언어 학습보다는 사교적인 측면에 좀 더 중점을 두고 있습니다.
저희는 언어 교환에 꽤나 진심인데요, 따라서 다양한 주제로 말하기와 듣기 연습을 할 수 있습니다. 필기 도구나 학습 자료를 가져오셔도 좋아요! 원어민과 함께 연습하는 것은 어떤 언어든 유창함을 향상시키는데 효과적일 거에요.
이 모임을 통해 친구를 사귈 수도 있지만, 저희의 주요 목표는 언어 실력 향상임을 유의해주세요. 이 그룹은 연애를 목적으로 하는 곳이 아닙니다. 그런 목적으로 참여하지 않기를 당부드립니다.
저희는 언제나 도움이 되고 환영받는 커뮤니티를 만들고자 노력하고 있습니다. 그러므로 그 어떤 형태의 괴롭힘도 용납할 수 없으며, 이는 즉시 그룹에서 퇴장시킬 사유가 됩니다. 만약 이벤트 참여 도중 괴롭힘을 경험하신다면 즉시 호스트들에게 말씀해주세요.
유의사항:
저희 그룹은 어느 정도 인기가 있는 편이라, 일반적으로 그룹 가입을 기다리고 계신 분들이 항상 300명 이상입니다. 따라서 저희는 원활한 운영 및 다양한 유형의 참여자들이 참석할 수 있도록 회원 수를 제한하고 있는 점 참고 부탁드려요. 따라서 가입 승인까지는 시간이 어느 정도 소요될 수 있는 점 불편하시겠지만 양해 부탁드립니다. 또한, 가입 신청 시 실제 프로필 사진이 없는 경우 가입 승인이 더 어려울 수 있으니 프로필 사진 등록을 권장합니다. 이벤트참여인원을 식별하는 데 필요합니다.
(특히 참여 초반에는 더 중요합니다).
