What we’re about
Celebrating and protecting birds from the river to the ocean in St. Johns & Eastern Putnam Counties!
You will need to obtain a ticket from Eventbrite to participate in most of our events as noted on each MeetUp event we list.
We encourage you to consider joining the SJRA. You can join for as little as $15/year, which helps us continue and expand our work. To join the SJRA, follow this link: https://stjohnsaudubon.com/membership/
- We generally host a number of bird walks and field trips throughout our season for our members and the general public. Most events do not require a pre-registration and are free.
- Beginning birders are particularly welcome at our events! The advanced birders who lead these events enjoy helping others learn about the habitats, songs, and lives of birds and how we can protect their habitats.
- Check out the 3,500 sq. ft. St. Augustine Audubon Native Plant Garden that we installed and maintain next to the St. Augustine Visitor Information Center.

There are 12 seats available on the boat at $45 a person. For a ticket, use this link.
Captain Zach from St. Augustine Eco Tours and author/photographer/birder Linda Burek will lead a private birding boat tour for the SJRA.
This will be a terrific opportunity to see birds which may be difficult to see from shore. The tour usually includes Hospital Creek and Julia’s Island. The tour then may cross the inlet and check out the birds on the jetties and possibly Salt Run. Also, the tour may run down to the mouth of the San Sebastián river where there is often a lot of bird activity. We hope to see American oystercatchers which are so hard to see from land.
Please plan to arrive no later than 7:45 AM.
Captain Zach is a biologist and naturalist and knows the waterway well and knows where to find the birds.
Linda Burek is a certified Florida master naturalist and has led Christmas Bird Counts on the waterway for several years. She is the author of two local bird guides which are available on Amazon.
Additional information can be found at the St. Augustine Eco Tours website.
If you have any questions, please contact Linda Burek at ldburek@gmail.com.
