What we’re about

Welcome to the Classics Book Club! We are a close-knit group of kindred readers who come together to read classic literature from the 19th and early 20th centuries. We choose one Great Work, and spend two to three months deep-diving into the book. Aside from the Great Works, we also have short-story discussions for those hesitant to commit to a novel spanning hundreds of pages.

We will post the first three meetings of every Great Work discussion on Meetup. The first meeting is an introduction, which requires no reading. Please RSVP to at least one of the three meetings to secure your spot for the Great Work reading. We schedule at least two discussions every month, usually every other Saturday.

Our selection of short-stories is always accessible in the public domain. Short-story discussions are mostly scheduled every Wednesday, though some are held on Saturdays. If you would like to read and discuss a particular short story, please feel free to reach out and let us know, and we will try to schedule a discussion for the same.

No-Show Policy:
We enforce a very strict no-show policy. New members (those who have not read with us before) that are absent for two events without updating their RSVP will be removed from the group and banned from re-joining it. We take into account logistics (such as reservations and availability of other members) while organizing each event and we ask that you are mindful of this.
