What we’re about

Greetings to grown women/afab-loving-women/afab humans (regardless of identity as lesbian, gay, queer, bi, trans, non-binary, etc.) from the greater Portland–Vancouver metro area. This affinity group (folks linked by a commonality) aims to create a safe and welcoming space for lesbian / queer folks to enjoy socializing together as their authentic selves. We strive to build a dynamic and diverse community, establish quality friendships, and provide caring support for one another. We prefer to be a small group that does well at providing a significant number of varied events accessible to and reflective of the diverse interests of our members.

Having prior experience in successfully organizing many different events, we affirm this meetup as your group! We encourage members to be involved by suggesting activities including adventures, social occasions, or other get-togethers. We intend to be responsive to the wants and needs in our expansive community. Additionally, our leaders will readily provide full support to those wanting to serve as “hosts” for any events you wish to post.

One important guideline for participating in this affinity group is that we engage decently and respectfully with one another. Please understand that we are trying to create a drama-free zone. Our leaders are ever present to assist with this as needed.

Another guideline is to be courteous to our gracious hosts. You need to be listed as “going” before “showing up” at a posted event. Many of our events have sign-ups to comfortable capacity. Other interested members should still RSVP, even if placed on a waiting list. We expect anyone listed as “going” to notify the host directly if their plans change. We request no less than a 48-hour notice of cancellation, except for emergencies, to allow others to have a chance to attend. We will reach out to all of those waiting to fill a spot that opens up.

We reserve the right to move a member with repeated non-communicative no-shows to “not going” for only one event that is full. If the non-communicative no-shows continue, one of our leaders will reach out to discuss how we could be of help.

Given our goal of building community, any member who has not at least accessed our site for 4 months will be removed from the group. Such members may rejoin after Meetup’s imposed 30-day suspension by following our admission process.

Finally, please note that we are covering all expenses associated with the maintaining of this meetup. We do welcome any voluntary donations given when attending events to help offset the costs. Thank you for reviewing our description in full.

**When applying for membership, please make sure to provide your name as well as a photo of yourself or let us know why this might not be possible for you.  Additionally, please respond completely to the three membership questions.  If, for whatever reason, you are not able to provide written information, direct message one of the leaders who will arrange for a brief conversation.**
