Happy Fourth of July everyone! Our original plan was to check out Providence's fireworks show, but the event is being held mid week so it wasn't in the cards. The thought of having to rush out of work, fight event traffic on the Washington Bridge, and find parking in time to host was enough to cause mild panic in Eddie haha Let's kick off the holiday weekend over some live music and drinks at the city's only Nashville themed bar!
If you've never been to Moonshine Alley, it's still a relative newcomer to the Providence bar scene. However, it quickly became one of the most popular nightlife spots. Sticking with their Nashville theming, the bar places a lot of focus on live music. Moonshine typically features multiple live acts throughout the week from acoustic sets, cover bands, and touring acts performing their own work. Obviously with their Southern aesthetic, the bar is popular with country acts. Don't worry we know the genre can invoke strong feelings, both with its fans and detractors. Friday night's event features cover band Slightly Tooned, who perform a wide variety of popular songs from a range of genres. They seem to be your typical top 40 hits throughout the decades kind of act, so it should appeal to most musical tastes.
If you come hungry, Moonshine is also a restaurant so they have plenty of options. Though, their full menu may not be available at the bar. We'll post a link to their website below. Our recommendation is to eat before, unless there's something on the menu you really want to try. You may be stuck at the bar while you wait. If you do order food, we recommend doing it around the start of the event just in case we decide to move to another spot.
Moonshine is located near the center of Downtown, so we have plenty of options when the group wants to move on. We'll decide during the night where to go.
Waterfire is also an option since there is also a full lighting on Friday to celebrate the holiday. Downtown will likely be busy with the event, so it would be a good day to ride share if feasible. If you do drive, you may want to budget some extra time to find parking. There's also a fair amount of paid lots in the area. Don't worry though, we'll be at Moonshine for awhile if you're late.
Please reach out directly to the hosts if you have any questions, or leave a comment. Hope to see you then! Also hope the rest of your weekend is full of fun cookouts, more drinks, and fireworks (not the last two at the same time tho of course haha)
