A slower paced style of yoga which includes passive poses (or relaxing the body and muscles) combined with holding poses longer while focusing on the breath and being present. We add the ambiance of candles to support the relaxing vibes. Many of the poses are seated or lying on your back or stomach. Longer poses help facilitate the slow and safe opening of connective tissues like tendons and ligaments. Yin is a great counterbalance to more active styles of yoga and students often leave with a feeling of lightness and peace. All levels. Time: 60 mins. Temp: room°

When author Jeff Hobbs arrived at Yale University, he became fast friends with the man who would be his college roommate for four years, Robert Peace. Robert’s life was rough from the beginning in the crime-ridden streets of Newark in the 1980s, with his father in jail and his mother earning less than $15,000 a year. But Robert was a brilliant student, and it was supposed to get easier when he was accepted to Yale, where he studied molecular biochemistry and biophysics. But it didn’t get easier.
