What we’re about
MDGN is a free and open group dedicated to bringing people together to play / learn games, have fun, and make friends. We have monthly board game nights on Saturdays from 7pm-2am in Sterling Heights, as well as many special gaming and social events all around Metro Detroit. From the simplest party games to the most complex strategy games all types of tabletop are represented.
You don't need to own or know how to play anything to attend our events because we have hundreds of games we can teach you. That being said, you're always welcome to bring your own games too. You also don't need (but are always welcome) to bring anyone with you because we can introduce individuals, couples, and groups to play together in a safe, chill environment. Ask around for our founder Rob (Big O) if you ever need any help.
In addition to our monthly board game nights past events have included (biannual) video game nights, laser tag, bowling, escape rooms, disc golf, trivia, karaoke, paint and sip, movies, and more. We also host several annual events like an adult Easter egg hunt, summer BBQ, growler party, Halloween party, Thanksgiving potluck, Christmas party, (biennial) New Year's Eve party, camping trip, pub crawl, beer olympics, and attend others like anime / gaming / comic conventions, renaissance festivals, Detroit Zoo event(s), and beer festivals.
Our group is currently based in Sterling Heights / Clinton Township but we have members and events all over the Metro Detroit area including Warren, Roseville, St. Clair Shores, Eastpointe, Grosse Pointe Woods, Shelby Township, Fraser, Hazel Park, Madison Heights, Harper Woods, Royal Oak, Ferndale, Southfield, Harrison Township, Troy, Berkley, Rochester Hills, Oak Park, Clawson, Grosse Pointe Park, Detroit, and more.
