What we’re about

Howdy!! We are a group of folks who enjoy meeting to casually play Pickleball. No skill required. Come learn the rules, play and meet some new people.

New group members are especially welcome!!

We commonly use the Colleyville Pickleball courts (there are 8) found at Colleyville City Park. We have a map of the locations we use here.

All ages, individuals and couples ... everyone is welcome.

Since we started our group in August 2022, we have been having a weekly meetup on Sundays. We usually reserve two courts meaning that eight of us can play at a time (two parallel games). When a game ends, we switch out so that those who didn't play last game, play this next game so you get to play quickly and constantly. When a game ends, we rotate the players such that if a team happens to be stronger than normal, in the next game that team won't be paired. Depending on how many attendees come, we usually play a "paddles-down" rotation (when the current game is over, players put their paddles down at the end of the chain).

Don't let the above confuse or concern you ... it sounds more complex than it is ... if you are playing a game and the game comes to an end ... just look at the others and they'll say "Good game ... ok ... John and Jane, you two are now a team for the next game" and off we go.

We have also started requiring RSVPs and limiting the number of players. There isn't much play time if one court (for 4 players) is reserved and 16 folks show up. Same for the times when we reserve two courts. As a rule of thumb, we typically restrict to 8 when there is one court and 17 when there are two courts. You can wait list yourself for attendance if you find an event full. If you decide to come along and you are wait listed and the RSVP'd folks show up, we ask you to respect the counts. So please, by all means feel very free to come along if you are wait listed, but don't expect to play if all the slots are already taken. If you are keen to play, we have a solution ... reserve a court yourself and post the announcement to the meetup group. Everyone is welcome to use this group for that purpose. Obviously, if you reserve the court and post the meetup, you are 100% assured of making the RSVP.

While we commonly schedule a meetup on Sundays, please feel very free to use our group to advertise additional games that you organize at other times. If you need assistance, ping Neil or Stephanie and they will be delighted to assist you.

We recommend that you check the event posting here before setting out (especially if you have a longish drive). We check the weather before the event and if it is horrible, we might cancel (this has happened, but thankfully rarely). RSVP to an event if you are planning to come play and also try and remember to un-RSVP if you change your mind.

Starting from June 2023, we have started to ask for cost recovery for booked courts and Meetup.com expenses. This is currently set to $3.00/RSVP. You will only be asked to pay if you actually attend (no monies up front). $3 cash is easiest. If you forget to bring your wallet, no sweat ... we'll cover you :-)

Feel free to post any comments or questions and we look forward to seeing you. Our group seems to be working out great and everyone who comes along has a great time. We don't take either ourselves or our play that seriously ... you'll keep hearing us say "This is CASUAL Pickleball".
