What we’re about
Support is essential to recovery. One of the most helpful things one person can say to (or hear from) another is “I’ve been there.” Depression and bipolar disorder can be isolating illnesses, but DBSA has many ways to help connect you with others who have been there as well.
You are not alone. We are here for you.
The Milwaukee chapter of the DBSA strives to provide a safe, welcoming, and confidential forum for mutual acceptance, understanding, and self-discovery. We are here to provide the opportunity for individuals dealing with mental illness to reach out to others and benefit from the experience of those who have been there before. We look to help people rediscover strengths and humor they thought they might have lost; to motivate them to follow their wellness plans, and; to understand that mood disorders do not define who they are.
The DBSA is not just for individuals struggling with mental illness. We also provide support for family and friends of those dealing with such issues.
In addition to providing information on our regular meetings (the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month), this Meetup group will also be planning social events, community involvement, and other activities for peers to meet.
Please understand that this is a peer support group. We are not mental health professionals and do not provide medical or behavioral advice.
