What we’re about
Stoicism is a philosophy of life with the goal of living well. Today philosophy is widely perceived as an esoteric or academic interest with little practical use, but the Hellenistic philosophies like Stoicism were designed to be lived. Starting with Socratic questions such as "what is good?" and "how does one live well?", the Stoics developed system of thought around the art of living. Their pursuit of happiness and a life well lived led them to a comprehensive world view that manifested in numerous practices for dealing with adversity and anxiety, developing a good character, acting with justice, and developing a rational relationship to death. If any of that sounds interesting to you, come check us out!
This group serves as a forum for people in Nashville and the surrounding area to discuss Stoic philosophy and practice, and to develop a community around self-improvement. We operate as a discussion group based on hand outs each month, so you don't need any prior knowledge or experience with philosophy to participate (or just want to sit in).
If you have any interest or questions let me know!
