What we’re about
We are a Wine and Dine Group! We share some good (sometimes Great!) bottles of wine over food and conversation.
A few times per month, we have small group dinners, either 6, 8 or 10 people at each event. The group organizers will host dinners on both weeknights and weekends. The organizer will supply 4 bottles of wine for 6 person dinners, 5 bottles of wine for 8 person dinners, and 6 bottles of wine for 10 person dinners. Most of the time, the wines will come from the event organizer's personal collection.
The cost of each event will be for an individual's share of the wine and in some cases the wine corkage charge of the restaurant. Dinner is not included and must be paid for at the event.
To attend an event, the wine payment must be made in advance, and reservations are on a first come, first serve basis. Once you pay, refunds or credits are only available if you cancel AND your spot gets filled by someone else. All refunds are subject to a cancellation fee from $3 to $5, depending on the cost of the event. There is no refund or credit for no-shows.
No other outside wine will be permitted, unless prior arrangements have been made with the host, but attendees may order wine or spirits from the restaurant, at their own expense. Attendees are expected to order at least an entree and one other item from the menu, either an appetizer, a side dish or a dessert.
Along with the wine charge, everyone will be expected/required to pay for their own meal, along with a 33% charge for tax and tip.
We will be dining at restaurants that we have established relationships with, where we can bring our own wine for us to enjoy. Corkage varies from restaurant to restaurant, from Zero to $25 per bottle.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU DON'T HAVE A PROFILE PICTURE WHERE I CAN SEE YOUR FACE, YOU WILL BE REJECTED FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THIS GROUP.

****THIS IS NOT A DINNER EVENT****
Some Good Wine is a boutique wine store in Greenwich Village which holds seminars and tasting events every now and then. I still recall my first event there, a Canary islands tasting in 2018 with 6 or 7 producers present, when not many had heard of the Canary Islands.
They are holding a Portuguese wine walkaround tasting event on April 2 (Wed) from 6-8pm. No, you don't have to show up at 6pm, and you don't have to stay 2 hours. Just come when you are able to.
Verbiage from the store regarding the event
--------------------------------------------------------------If I have to meet another person who went to Portugal on vacation I just make a massive tasting about it!! Portugal is having a moment but for some reason, the wines are not keeping up. Such a vast display across the small country yet varied, historic and monumental in so many ways. Arguably the best value wines in the world and the most undiscovered. Come with me on this fun journey.
After debating for years on how to do a proper wine tasting, we have come up with a selection sure to make your heart melt and mind flutter, that you can enjoy in a casual walk-around environment for Wednesday night only

Big thanks to Mihaela (Mika from Meetup) and Stephen for helping secure this reservation at the wonderful Spanish spot, El Pote Español. While their kitchen serves up Spanish flavors, we’re pairing the cuisine with Italian wines.
This 8-person tasting will include:
- 2 white wines from Campania
- 1 red wine from Campania
- 3 reds from Toscana
I’m excited to see how Spanish tapas pair with these Italian gems!
El Pote Espanol is located at 718 2nd Avenue, between 38th and 39th Street.

Campania Wines:
2022 Luciano Ercolino L'ariella Greco Di Tufo - JS 93, Enticing herbs, mineral and white almonds to the nose with a beautiful, textured mid-palate, which is sleek yet tense. Medium to full body on the palate with fresh, bright acidity and a mineral, appetizing finish. Drink now.
2022 Luciano Ercolino 'Fontana della Loggia' Irpinia Falanghina- JS 92, Refreshing herbs, sage and crushed stones to the nose with some nectarines and sliced apples. Textured and ample with a fluid center palate full of herbs and fresh acidity that gives a tangy and swift mouthfeel. An attractive falanghina. Drink now.
2020 Montevetrano di Silvia Imparato Colli di Salerno IGT - 93 WA, From a very warm and sunny vintage, the 2020 Montevetrano is a robust, soft and full-bodied expression with concentrated and very ripe fruit. The wine starts with lots of baked blackberry and plum, then moves into sweet spice and campfire ash. Grape Varieties: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Aglianico, 20% Merlot.
Toscana Wines:
2012 Ca' Marcanda (Gaja) Bolgheri Magari – WA 94, Upped to a Bolgheri status (previously this wine was identified as a Toscana IGT), the 2012 Bolgheri Magari is simply delightful. This vintage shows extra heft and dimension that allows the wine to spread smoothly over the palate. Merlot is blended with Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon, and the taste profile in the 2012 vintage definitely favors the Merlot component. Soft cherry and dark berry segue to spice and moist tobacco. The structure of the two Cabernet varieties shows in the mouth where the wine is elegant and tight. It needs more time for bottle evolution(10/2014). Made from 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc.
2017 Variazioni in Rosso dell' Ornellaia - The result of a particularly hot and dry year, Variazioni in Rosso dell’Ornellaia 2017 is a picture made up of all the shades which Ornellaia has at its disposal. Even the later varieties benefited from the 2017 climatic season, reaching perfect ripeness. Montepulciano, with its typical scents of marasca cherries, tobacco and liquorice, combines with the enveloping character of Merlot and the beautifully ripe spicy notes of Petit Verdot. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc contribute to the structure and aromatic freshness of the wine, resulting in a persistent and lively finish. (Olga Fusari – Winemaker) 28% Montepulciano, 27% Merlot, 25% Petit Verdot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc.
2019 Castello di Bossi Corbaia Toscana IGT, 93 WA, The Castello di Bossi 2019 Corbaia is a lovely Tuscan red. This blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc reveals a delicate pace of aromas that unfold slowly with dark fruit, sweet cedar, spice and black plum. There is a pretty warm-climate element to this medium to full-bodied wine that comes across nicely thanks to the generous fruit layering. 70% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.
- Kirkland's Premium Selection: A Barolo Vertical Blind & Chablis Premier CruABA Istanbul Café, New York, NY$33.00
Not everything at home is a luxury wine like Dujac, I must confess. I have a soft spot for Costco, and their Kirkland wines often impress me with their unbeatable quality-to-price ratio (QPR). Tonight, we're exploring that very concept with a unique blind Barolo tasting. It's true, these bottles, like many of Costco's premium offerings, are surprisingly sought-after and often disappear quickly from shelves. And while aging Kirkland Barolo for a decade isn't common practice, I've done just that, and I'm excited to share the results.
Costco's business model extends far beyond bulk sales; it encompasses a carefully curated selection of luxury goods, from designer handbags and top-tier caviar to A5 Wagyu. I've even witnessed DRC gracing their shelves. (See photos.)
To begin, we'll prime our palates with a crisp 2020 Chablis Premier Cru. Then, the main event: a blind tasting of three Barolo vintages—2015, 2016, and 2017—alongside a mystery Barolo of similar vintage. Let's see if the Kirkland Signature bottling can stand its ground against the competition, at a fraction of the price.
I hope you can join us!The cost for this event is $33, which is for the wine only.

The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):
2021 Raul Pérez Bierzo Ultreia La Claudina ($50) - CT 90.8, A Godello from the Bierzo AVA of Spain, WA95 points, "There is a smoky twist in the 2021 Ultreia La Claudina, a low-yielding vintage, from a plot in Valtuille on sandy soils. The grapes struggled to ripen, and the wine has a more austere profile than the wines from yesteryear, when it was a lot more exotic and exuberant but with a spicy twist that they reckon comes from the foudre used. It's from one of the oldest plots from the newer plantings in the 1980s. 1,300 bottles produced."2019 The Farm Winery Malbec Old Pro ($60) - JD 89+ points, "Based on 100% Malbec, the 2019 Old Pro reveals more black cherry and blue-tinged fruits with some leather, dried herbs, and loamy earth notes in a more medium-bodied, focused style. There are some savory tannins here that will need to be watched, but this has good overall balance as well as length on the finish."
2021 Fidelitas Malbec Red Mountain ($40) - Owen Bargreen 95 points, "The 2021 Fidelitas ‘Heart of the Hill Vineyard’ Malbec comes from this famous site that has a small amount of Malbec planted. This wine has been made since the 2013 vintage. Mocha, tar and black licorice all mark the nose alongside exotic spices. Seamless and soft on the mouth, with great elegance and bright acidity, this is already drinking marvelously. (drink 2024-2041)
2021 Bodegas Emilio Moro Ribera del Duero Malleolus ($48) -WS 92 points, "Expressive notes of licorice and candied violet on the nose accent flavors of blackberry paste, black cherry pate de fruit, ground coffee, dried sage and tar in this dark, rich red, which is brightened by the tang of orange peel acidity. The sculpted tannins show a velvety edge that aids integration and the overall harmonious feel. Best from 2025 through 2034. 20,000 cases made, 7,500 cases imported."
2020 No Girls Tempranillo ($90) - FULL DISCLOSURE: We are taking a bit of a chance here..I held a "No Girls" Wine night and 2 of the 4 wines were flawed. This was one of the good wines, and I personally gave it 92 points. One of the truly outstanding wineries in the Pacific Northwest, No Girls began as an idea between superstar vigneron, Christophe Baron and Cayuse GM Trevor Dorland, following the success of Cayuse Vineyards. This project features the stony, one of a kind terror found at the ‘La Paciencia Vineyard’.
Owen Bargreen 95 points, "One of the great Tempranillo wines you will find in North America, the 2020 No Girls ‘La Paciencia Vineyard’ Tempranillo pushes the envenope in terms of weight, intensity and flavor range. This is seriously good right now with dark plum, creme de violette, black currants and Kalamata olive. Really good to enjoy now, savor this over the next five plus years. (drink 2023-2028)"
