What we’re about
We are a Wine and Dine Group! We share some good (sometimes Great!) bottles of wine over food and conversation.
A few times per month, we have small group dinners, either 6, 8 or 10 people at each event. The group organizers will host dinners on both weeknights and weekends. The organizer will supply 4 bottles of wine for 6 person dinners, 5 bottles of wine for 8 person dinners, and 6 bottles of wine for 10 person dinners. Most of the time, the wines will come from the event organizer's personal collection.
The cost of each event will be for an individual's share of the wine and in some cases the wine corkage charge of the restaurant. Dinner is not included and must be paid for at the event.
To attend an event, the wine payment must be made in advance, and reservations are on a first come, first serve basis. Once you pay, refunds or credits are only available if you cancel AND your spot gets filled by someone else. All refunds are subject to a cancellation fee from $3 to $5, depending on the cost of the event. There is no refund or credit for no-shows.
No other outside wine will be permitted, unless prior arrangements have been made with the host, but attendees may order wine or spirits from the restaurant, at their own expense. Attendees are expected to order at least an entree and one other item from the menu, either an appetizer, a side dish or a dessert.
Along with the wine charge, everyone will be expected/required to pay for their own meal, along with a 33% charge for tax and tip.
We will be dining at restaurants that we have established relationships with, where we can bring our own wine for us to enjoy. Corkage varies from restaurant to restaurant, from Zero to $25 per bottle.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU DON'T HAVE A PROFILE PICTURE WHERE I CAN SEE YOUR FACE, YOU WILL BE REJECTED FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THIS GROUP.

See all- A Return to One Fifth!Trattoria One Fifth, New York, NY$66.00
We have dined at One Fifth a few times recently, and I really love their food and the service. So join me for the a Post New Year's dinner on a Monday night as we take advantage of their Monday "Raid Your Cellar" promotion!
This will be an 8 person dinner, there will be one White wine and 4 red wines all from the 2020 vintage of No Girls Winery. No Girls began as an idea between superstar vigneron, Christophe Baron and Cayuse GM Trevor Dorland, following the success of Cayuse Vineyards. This project features the stony, one of a kind terror found at the ‘La Paciencia Vineyard’. The name ‘No Girls’ is connected with the history of Walla Walla. Christophe purchased a building in 2002 that was a former brothel and inside the new building, he noticed the words ‘No Girls’ painted on the wall— and the wine label is an actual photograph of the former brothel.
Ironically, considering the winery's name, they proudly state they empower women. From their website, "No Girls celebrates the belief that empowered women create empowered wine—and champions this profession's many talented and independent women and beyond.
The wines are crafted by Karen Gasparotti, Resident Vigneronne for Bionic Wines. The wines have earned routinely high accolades, with Wine Spectator calling them "some of the best Washington wines ever rated" by the magazine. NOTE: While WS, and Owen Bargreen, a WA State centric critic LOVE their wines, the WA does not. Giving No Girls wines 88 points each. Who got it right?
Historically, women were excluded from the critical stages of wine production, hampered by the prevailing societal belief that it was strictly "a man's work." No Girls offers a new narrative driven by women's strength and resilience. The wines are as modern, opinionated, and powerful as the name suggests.
The cost for this event is $66, which is for the wine, and the corkage.
PLUS a reminder of our usual rules:
You will also have to pay the cost of your food (plus 33% for tax and tip). Please order at least two courses (i.e. a main dish and either appetizer or dessert) for your dinner. There are very few restaurants that allow us to bring our own wine for a low corkage fee. We must be good guests to encourage the restaurant to continue to be generous to us.
Please read and understand the group's cancellation policy. If you take spot, then cancel, and no one else takes the spot, you will not receive a refund or credit. No refunds or credits will be given for no-shows or late cancellations (unless someone else takes your spot). All cancellations are subject to a $7 service fee.

The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):
2021 Château de Vaudieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Vieilles Roussanne ($90) - CT 95, JD 94 points, "Readers looking for a richer, more concentrated style of white should snatch up the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Vieilles Roussanne, a 100% Roussanne from the older vines on the estate. Its medium gold hue is followed by a terrific perfume of buttered orchard fruits, spice, mint, and chalky minerality. Balanced on the palate, it's medium-bodied, has a round, elegant mouthfeel, and a great finish."
2020 No Girls Grenache ($90) - Owen Bargreen 95 points, "Coming off strong and heady on the nose, this shows blood orange zest, white pepper dusted bacon, red cherry candy and guava notes. Finishing long with wet stone and very pure red fruits, this is a fantastic, nicely textured rendition of this wine that is best consumed now and over the next several years. (drink 2023-2028)"
2020 No Girls Syrah ($90) - Owen Bargreen 96 points, "The outstanding 2020 No Girls ‘La Paciencia Vineyard’ Syrah is a truly beautiful wine from this tough vintage in the Walla Walla Valley. On the nose this takes on layers of seaweed, smoked brisket, beef drippings and iodine with shades of wild blackberry. The palate is soft and refined with a beautiful core of black fruits, alongside hints of white truffle, cran-orange and oyster sauce. Salty, savory and fully delicious, enjoy this stunning Syrah now and over the next five plus years. (drink 2023-2028)"
2020 No Girls Tempranillo ($90) - Owen Bargreen 95 points, "One of the great Tempranillo wines you will find in North America, the 2020 No Girls ‘La Paciencia Vineyard’ Tempranillo pushes the envenope in terms of weight, intensity and flavor range. This is seriously good right now with dark plum, creme de violette, black currants and Kalamata olive. Really good to enjoy now, savor this over the next five plus years. (drink 2023-2028)"
2020 No Girls Double Lucky #8 ($60) - WS 93, Owen Bargreen 94 points, "Mainly Tempranillo [w/Grenache & Syrah], the 2020 ‘Double Lucky No. 8’ offers loads of bright acidity alongside black tea, seaweed, boysenberry and coffee grounds alongside citrus blossom. Complex and delicious, with a smooth texture and serious weight, this is an outstanding blend that will cellar well over the next five years. (drink 2023-2028)"
WE 94 points, "This super double secret probation proprietary blend only tells you its name, aromas - sweet floral notes of jasmine and gardenia, with oodles of blackcap raspberries - and flavors - black cherries, smoked paprika, tobacco and espresso. The acidity is borderline tingly, and the tannins are plush. —Michael Alberty, Wine Enthusiast" - BIG California Reds & Mutton!Keens Steakhouse, New York, NY$131.00

The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):
2015 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc ($115) Bordeaux, France- CT 93.2, WA and WS 95, JD 98 points, "(Domaine De Chevalier Blanc) If I had to pick the white of the vintage, it would be the 2015 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc from proprietor Olivier Bernard. Based largely on Sauvignon Blanc (there’s around 30% Sémillon) and from a 6-hectare parcel located just outside of Léognan, it offers sensational notes of citrus oil, liquid rock, caramelized limes, and a huge chalky/flinty minerality. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, yet with bright acidity, it should drink well for 2-3 decades. (Drink between 2020-2050)"2014 TOR Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard ($200) - CT 96.1, WA 97 points, "Composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon is deep garnet-purple colored and scented of blueberry pie, warm black plums, cassis and chocolate with touches of soil, menthol and truffles. The palate is full-bodied, firm, rock solid, muscular, broody and tight, finishing very long and spicy. This should be very long lived! 200 cases were made. (drink 2022-2050)"
2015 Outpost Immigrant True Vineyard ($130) - CT 94.5, JD 95 points "(Outpost Wines True Vineyard Immigrant) The Bordeaux blend is the 2015 True Vineyard Immigrant and it’s 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and 23% Cabernet Franc that’s from a very rock site on Howell Mountain that was planted in 2001 and 2002. Blackcurrants, blueberries, black cherries, exotic flowers, and spice all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, pure, beautifully seamless 2015 that has fine, fine tannin and a finish that won’t quit. Give this beauty 4-5 years and enjoy over the following 15-20."
2014 O'Shaughnessy Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder ($140) - CT 93.7, WA 96 points, "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and usually my favorite from Betty O’Shaughnessy. She produces just under 1,200 cases of this wine, which has the classic blueberry, blackberry and acacia flower nose that comes from the high elevations of this wild and backward mountain area in southern Napa Valley. Dense bluish/purple to the rim, with loads of blueberries on the palate, big-time glycerin, sweet tannin, low acidity and a long, layered finish, this is terrific wine to drink now and over the next 20-25 years. (drink 2016-2041)"
- The 56th Anniversary of the Jets winning Super Bowl IIIThe Leopard at des Artistes, New York, NY$41.00
Sunday, January 12th, 2024 will be the 56th Anniversary of the NY Jets upset of the heavily favored Baltimore Colts at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida. For Jet fans it is a bittersweet reminder that they haven't been back to the big game since.
This was the game that made "Broadway" Joe Namath's legend, as sitting poolside at a Miami hotel in the days leading up to the game, he guaranteed the Jets would win. He was named the game's MVP.
So wear something Green, and join me for this celebration of the greatest moment in NY Jet history. In honor of Broadway Joe (who WAS #12), all the red wines will be from the 2012 vintage. We will be dining at group favorite The Leopard at des Artistes. This will be an 8 person, 1 white wine, 4 red wines dinner.
Here is a link to their menu.

The Wines:
2021 Alvina Pernot Bourgogne Côte d'Or Les Femelottes Blanc ($38) -
Neil Martin (formally of the WA) 89, Jasper Morris 88 points and 4 stars, "Good intensity, fresh fruit, with citrus at the back and a clean pure mineral thread which helps extend the finish. Grapefruit perhaps. Drink from 2024-2026. Tasted: October 2022"2012 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape ($70) - CT 92.4, WA 96 points, "What I think might end up being the best Beaucastel since the 1990 or 2001, the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape offers a full-bodied, decadent style to go with awesome black and blue fruits, garrigue, licorice, crushed flowers and violets. The purity here is truly something, and it has fabulous mid-palate concentration, building tannin and massive texture. Given all of the fruit and texture here, it will no doubt drink well in its youth, but it should still be alive and kicking after two decades as well."
2012 Château La Dominique ($40) - CT 91.2, WA 93 points, "This is a gorgeous, hedonistic, yet complex La Dominique with an inky purple color, oodles of blue, red and black fruits, sweet tannin, a generous, opulent, full-bodied mouthfeel, and a long finish. This 2012 is sensational and further evidence of the rebound of La Dominique after a few years of mediocrity. It is a sleeper of the vintage to be drunk over the next 15 years. (drink 2015-2030)" NOTE: This St. Emilion Grand Cru is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
2012 Larkmead Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon ($100) - CT 92.6, WA 93+ point, "The soft, delicious, complex 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate offers notes of cedarwood, blackcurrants, baking spices, Asian soy, crème de cassis, licorice and a touch of graphite. It continues to remind me of a hypothetical blend of a second or third-growth Bordeaux Pauillac with a Napa Valley Cabernet. Composed of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot aged 18 months in 54% new French oak, it possesses full body, sweet tannin and should drink well for two decades or more. (drink 2014-2035)"
2012 Herman Story Syrah Bien Nacido ($60) - CT 92.7, WA 95, WA 92 points, "Powerful and plush, featuring a complex core of tannins and bright acidity. Smoky blueberry and bitter chocolate aromas combine with dense flavors of dried cherry, peppered beef and tar. Best from 2017 through 2026. 391 cases made. (drink 2017-2026)"
- Because your Fizz is on my Listalbadawi, New York, NY$25.00
2024 is almost over, and it's time for the wine magazines to unveil their Top 100 lists, which are usually subjective, misleading, and ridiculous. BUT despite all of that, we welcome 2025 by drinking 4 wines that made the Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2024. Normally these lists are littered with prestigious expensive wines, but there were some reasonably priced values to be had.
This event marks a return to al Badawi, a Palestinian restaurant on the UES, where the group has dined before. I love their mansaf. Here is the menu
