From Parents to People Again

Those 45+ years young with empty(ing) nests in North Raleigh plus in East Durham, Brier Creek and Wake Forest are encouraged to join. We aim to keep our activities in this north central area of the Triangle to limit drive time and create more close-knit community. If you live beyond these areas, we welcome you but please honor our geographical focus. We will have a variety of social, service, and support activities as we navigate this life chapter where we are no longer totally parenting focused but are pursuing our own interests and friendships. Men, women, couples and singles are all encouraged to join and participate, organize events and/or make event suggestions. We hope to gather in person at least twice monthly - a mix of men only, women only, and both.

Practices:

1. Come to at least one event to check out the fit while you enjoy the 60 day trial period. To be a member, you must annually pay $5 dues and organize a minimum of one event.
2. Please keep your RSVPs, or cancel a minimum of 24 hours prior to an event. Communicate directly with the event Organizer when cancelling within 24 hours. No shows will lead to membership removal. Too many cancellations will also lead to removal. You must ACTIVELY MANAGE your RSVPs! If you are on a wait list, you often will get in, so you must keep track of it or remove yourself from the wait list.
3. Check your messages; actively participate in the discussion board.
4. Do not post external links for voting, fundraising, donations, etc. Keep this forum non-commercial. If you are involved in or even lead a charity or service, we would like to support you so please check with the Organizer(s).
5. Criticize privately (including the Organizers) and compliment publicly.
6. Be kind. No drama. Mean behavior (including confrontational language or behavior) will not be tolerated.

Pledge:
You will have 60 days after joining to try out the group before the annual per person membership of $5.00 is due to us via Venmo @jscanlo (last four phone digits are 8183). We are NOT paying through Meetup based on high fees and challenges we’ve encountered. Membership dues primarily ensure you are committed to participating rather than joining just to then sit on the sidelines. We'll use dues to cover the >$200 cost that Meetup charges to host the group; excess dues will be contributed toward event costs.
