What we’re about
**A Different Kind Of Book Club**
Definition of "Literary Society": A literary society is a group of people interested in literature.
This is not your ordinary book club. There will be no monthly books to read, no book of the month, and no required reading. This is solely for lovers of books, whether eBook, paper, or audio. Each month we get together, socialize, and discuss books we love, hate, and are currently consuming. This is a great way to just have an excuse to talk about literature, or get recommendations that you normally wouldn't think to try.
Each monthly meetup we ask that you bring 3 book titles (does not need to be the physical book): A favorite book, a book you hated, and a book you're currently reading. We will have time to chat, discuss books, and just meet new and interesting people in this "not a book club" book club.
We don't plan on having a whole ton of rules or anything here, but we did want to clarify some important things going forward.
- We would like to keep this group to adults only. The events will not be kid friendly, as we would like this to be a time for us to all have unhindered discussion about our favorite subject: books!
- We do not restrict what type of literature can be brought or discussed. That being said, we ask that you do remain tactful and aware that religion and politics are sticky subjects and you may not always be in agreement with everyone. We understand that there are great many books that have a religious or a political angle or bent, and being exposed to different ideas is never a bad thing! But please, let's use best judgement to ensure that our meetings remain comfortable and friendly.
- As this is an in-person get together, we do ask that you are vaccinated if you plan to attend for the safety and comfort of everyone. We will not be asking for any documentation or proof of vaccination, but do hope you will be respectful of this request.
We look forward to meeting and reading with you!
