What we’re about
This group is for those who love outdoor activities. Hiking, camping, backpacking, mountaineering, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, spelunking, walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, as well as other sports, are all activities that are possibilities for our calendar.
Organizers, please note new guidelines on any commercially related events at the bottom of this posting.
There will be some purely social events, but that is secondary to Outdoor type activities.
This group operates under a "members first" mentality and I hope that it grows into a great one. A Meetup Group is only as good as its members.
By joining North Texas Outdoors you are agreeing with our Liability Waver and all it's terms which can be found here.

LIABILITY WAIVER
Hello Event Organizers, members. This note is to inform everyone of a new policy in North Texas Outdoors. Regarding events related to commercial events. We have had some such for profit events in the past (Fencing, Scuba, Archery, etc.). Our goal is clarity and setting expectations for our members, so no surprises.
So going forward, here are the new required guidelines for commercial events:
- Each event must show costs if any for events.
- NTO does not charge or collect any money for events, but outside services can be paid directly by members, for example Kayak rental, commercial class fees. Â
- Event Hosts cannot receive a cut of fees or any other compensation
- Event hosts can though, for example, rent out equipment, but it must be stated in the event page.
- Each event that is a “first lesson” or has an ongoing option must spell out costs to continue.
- Only one event can be posted per quarter. Â
- Please do not fill up our schedule with auto-repeating events
- An Agenda must be published to tell participants what to expect. An example will be sent in a message.

- Cool Weather Spring Campout/Cookout at lake Murray (40 miles into Oklahoma)Lake Murray, Tips Point, Ardmore, OK
We are down to 3 camp sites left. To get on the roster, go to the OK reservations site (Tips Point Reservation Site) and grab a site. Message me and I will move you to going.
We are requesting that sites do not take on extra tents unless they are with that member's party (close friends, family...) as this event is intended to be limited to a manageable number of attendees. There are RV sites, but they are meant for RVs. There are also nearby cabins. Once the last tent site is gone, no one will be moved to going unless someone else backs out. If you decide not to go, please post it on the site so that someone on the wait list can take your site after you cancel,
For those of you that want to get outside, but like me are not fond of 95 degree weather, we are going to have a spring campout at Lake Murray. Lake Murray is clear enough for swimming and scuba diving, and the area is quite beautiful. Feel free to bring your bikes, Kayaks and hiking shoes. All that will be happening. I am targeting 20 to 30 folks between both group - max. Please post after signing up and reserving a space. Folks who have not reserved a space may be moved to the wait list as we fill up, so grab a space and lock in your attendance. If you are bringing guests, add them as +1s. We are allowed 2 tents per site and there is a second tent charge, however, unless this is family or a close friend you have a +1 for, we are discouraging this to keep the event size down under 35. When we hit roughly that number, no one else will be moved to the go list unless someone cancels.
Lake Murray also features clean single person locking shower and bathroom facilities at Tipp's Point.
2 groups are invited, Outdoor Adventures and NTO. For this event, OA rules are in effect:
- Requires a single person recognizable profile picture
- Polite behavior, Respect and tolerance for cultural and other differences, and please do not bring up topics that may cause arguments.
- Please be a gentleman /gentle lady to the opposite sex. It is great to make a connection, but do not be aggressive.
- For full expectations and to know what group shares this event, see: Outdoor Adventures Group Page
On the Saturday @ 6:00 PM we will start cooking, with dinner shortly after., assuming that folks are willing, we can do a pot luck. Food should be something that is prepared by your own hands, but if you don't cook, some decent restaurant take out would be acceptable. Limit the cost to 8-12 dollars per person in your party, unless you feel generous. We may also do a Satureday breakfast potluck, also optionaI. we encourage collaboration on other meals as well, and will have and share extra cooking facilities on my site. I will always be open to small or large potluck type breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
Tent sites at $20 to $24 per day.

To reserve, navigate to Tipps point. There are nearby cabins for rent. To reserve space for more than one additional guest, please contact the event organizer, as there is a max headcount for the event and 3 or 4 person late cancels and no-shows will keep folks on the wait list from attending.Everyone will be expected to follow all state campground rules. This is a human only event. Pets have not always worked out well.
There will be a time they require the volume down (10:00 PM) and fires belong in the barbecues and fire pits! We will obey all camp rules.
Age ranges for children are 18 and up, but exceptions will be granted for well-behaved children as young as 13 with parental supervision. (Contact Organizer).
Please post in the meeting for need to borrow, have extras to loan, and also we need to start a list of who is attending the potluck (Not mandatory) and who is bringing what. Otherwise, we run the risk of everyone bringing coleslaw or such and no salad, meat, etc. I myself will bring some protein for dinner and Oatmeal for breakfast to share as well as whatever else occurs to me. I will also bring some extra ice and clean filtered drinking water. water, but I think we will all need ice. Furthermore, I will also bring a few camp propane cook tops, a small amount of firewood, charcoal, etc. Please bring firewood and charcoal for your site and if possible contribute to our main camp propane, fire and the shared cooking area.
