What we’re about
I'm looking to make this a regular get together for both new hikers and experienced hikers. The main benefit of this group is that all hikes will be easily accessible by transit or by signing up for carpooling. This group makes it easy to meet new people, and we have lots of friendly, social conversations and chat on our hikes. Whether you're looking to join us for a specific event, or to be a reoccurring attendee to make new friends, this group is for you!
Event Difficulty Ratings: (Viewable in the Event Descriptions)
Easy: Elevation 0 to 450meters
Intermediate: Elevation 450 to 1000meters
Hard: Elevation 1000 to 2000meters
Very Hard: 2000+ meters
Organizer Recommendations:
*Each organizer runs their events differently, below is a general outline of what they do.
*For up to date information, including the difficulty of each event and what hiking equipment to bring, always check each Event Description.
*Our group tends to run larger event sizes which can be slow for some people, and includes waiting for slower hikers to catch up to us. Match the different organizer's event difficulty, group size and speed, and leadership style to your experience level and temperament.

Set out on hike by 9:00 am after a group picture at the trailhead map.
The group size will be limited, so please join waitlist if interested. Priority is given to those who have a good hiking history.Bring gloves for a bit of scrambling. Any scrambling involves risk-taking. It's a PERSONAL CHOICE to do so. You take on that risk yourself. There may be very little anyone can do to help with your climb up and down.
Check out this 5.8-km loop trail near Stawamus 24, British Columbia. Generally considered a challenging route. This is a very popular area for camping, hiking, and rock climbing, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring.
The best times to visit this trail are March through October. Dogs must be leashed. The Stawamus Chief Trail, known locally as "The Chief", is a route that every passionate hiker should have on their bucket list. Hiking Peak One and Peak Two together definitely gives hikers the most substantial views in the shortest distance. This hike is challenging despite its short length, with large stairway steps similar to Grouse Grind but even higher. This route is also very technical with a series of chains and ladders higher into the hike. The route from first peak to second peak, as shown, is actually a climbing route. Only hikers with climbing experience should attempt the full adventure. Most of the second section of the hike is intense stairs with all elevation gain, plus chains for the last quarter. Be very careful and take this area slow, especially if it has been raining or has snowed, as it can be quite slippery. This is not appropriate for small children and those who have not prepared. When hikers reach the summits, the views they will enjoy are incredible. There is really nothing like it when compared to shorter, local hikes. From the ridge, hikers will enjoy the views of the seas, Stawamus Chief Provincial Park, and the surrounding hiking trails.
To access the trail, hikers must buy a pass online, daily, at 6 AM, and during the summer season it is recommended to buy them as soon as possible since these tickets do sell out quite fast. I will verify this information, thoroughly. We are avoiding climbing down the ladder from the second to the third peak, to ensure hikers safety. We will descend from the second peak and proceed around to reach the third peak.
We also will start with Peak 1 and make our way toward peak 3; hence there will be added length and time and elevations gained to ensure taking the safest rout.
Following safety first principles, and while we are avoiding the steps, as well path to peak 3 is not well marked, the leader may take time to evaluate to choose the safest path.
*Before pressing attend please be certain you'll attend. In the case of 3 "No-Shows" or 3 "Not Going", attendees may be removed from the group. For the same reason, please exercise common sense and common courtesy when using Event Chat
*Carpool fee is $8 cash per hour.Meeting point: St David church parking lot at 7 and then proceeding to the Chief trail head parking lot.
