What we’re about
Going to the theatre is a wonderful way to immerse yourself into a story for a few hours with a theatre filled with people. This group exists to bring together local theatre fans together at one performance, and then meet up after the show for ice cream or food to share notes, what we liked, and what we didn’t. Theatre is an experience, and what some love, others don’t, so let’s create an open space to share our experience! Whether you’re going for the first time, or you go to shows every week, you’re welcome here!
Our regular schedule is to have a show scheduled every 4 weeks, although occasionally more shows will be scheduled.
This November, we're going to see Hamlet at the Players Club of Swarthmore on Friday, November 1st, 2024, at 7:30 PM. If you haven't seen it, this classic Shakespearean tragedy is a powerful exploration of revenge, madness, and the human condition, making it one of the most celebrated plays in theatrical history.
I'll be at the theater around 7:00 PM, holding a Meetup sign and wearing a theater shirt. Tickets for this show are around $20, with discounts available for seniors and students. I expect they’ll be performing the full, approximately 3-hour version of Hamlet, so be prepared for an evening of compelling theater.
From the Players Club of Swarthmore: "Hamlet, the prince of Denmark, returns home to mourn his father’s death and begrudgingly attend the wedding of his mother, Queen Gertrude, to his uncle Claudius, who has all too willingly taken his brother’s throne. When the former king’s ghost appears and cries murder, Hamlet’s grief turns to obsessive revenge as he seeks to uncover evidence and unmask Claudius. Tension builds and plots spiral out of control, leading to a deadly final showdown."

- $300-400 Amtrak Round Trip to NYC (Sat Only)Amtrak Station , Wilmington, DE
Broadway Trip to NYC: November 2-3, 2024
From Wilmington (WIL) Amtrak to New York Penn Station (NYP)
Interested in riding the rails to NYC for a Broadway adventure? Meals will generally be with the group, so you'll have good company while exploring the city. Note: This trip is "buy your own", so if you want to go, buy what you're comfortable with. If you want to coordinate plans, send me a DM on Meetup so I can share my trains, etc.I have purchased a ticket for Death Becomes Her at 2PM (runtime ~2:30) as I got mailed a promo offer. If you want to see the same show as me at 2PM, use code ETERNITY to purchase a ticket. I went with the mezzanine $99 ticket, but prices range from $59-99+.
Note, this is a community trip, no guarantees are being made that you will see a certain number of shows, as we are not "pre-ordering" tickets. You may only be able to get tickets to shows you do not want to see. That is a risk of TKTS.

For Broadway shows, I'll be picking from the TKTS board—likely not smash hits like Wicked or The Outsiders, but still plenty of great options. If you'd prefer, you can always buy tickets for full price, but that could run you $125+ per ticket. If you want to browse current and upcoming shows, check out Broadway Now and Next or Show-Score.
