What we’re about

When you see someone putting on their Big Boots you can be pretty sure an Adventure is about to happen (Winnie the Pooh, A.A. Milne)

A group for people who like getting out on the hills - whether the Lake District fells, the Cheviots, Simonside, North Pennines, or weekends up to the Scottish Highlands. Walks may vary from a short trip up Simonside to a day walk up Blencathra or even a bit of Munro bagging. We also like local walks in the North East such as the Northumberland coast, the Tyne Valley, Hadrians Wall, Bolam Lake...

Member dues (which cover fees paid to meetup.com) are £4 which covers all walks up to 31 Dec 2024.  Feel free to check us out but if you are walking regularly with us then you should pay the £4 for the calendar year - thanks! You can do this on Paypal to northernhillsncl@gmail.com or by bringing cash to a walk in an envelope with your name on it.

So far we have had lots of great walks and met loads of great people. There are always new people on each walk so if you're a first-timer you will meet others in the same position. As with all Meetups, you do need to take personal responsibility for your own safety, fitness and kit - each walk has an experienced organizer (which could be you!) but they are not professional guides.
