Now that spring is starting to near, I will be adding a variation of things, not just walks. So, for the first one, we will be cycling around Rutland Water. It is a 23 mile cycle, going theough villages and countryside! There may even be a pub stop en route.
This will require a level of fitness and therefore is for you to decide if this is for you. It is mostly flat with some up hills in places.
If people have bikes, then bring your own. For those that don't, you can hire them here https://www.specialized.com/gb/en/store-finder/rutland-water-cycling-whitwell/8297778
Bike hire is £40 for a manual for the full day. If you are hiring, I would advise booking these early as there is limited availability and they do get booked up. DO NOT wait until the day to hire on site, they are very likely to not have availability- I've don't this before 🤦🏽♀️
Please meet at 9.30 to leave for 9.45. If you are hiring bike, please make sure you arrive before 9.30 to collect them, as it gets very busy and we don't want to wait around.
It WILL be busy on paths with other cyclists and walkers, so please be careful when cycling as we will be a bigger group.
We will stop for lunch and head to the pub after The Wheatsheaf, 5 King Edward's Way, Edith Weston, Oakham LE15 8EZ which is a 10 min drive away.
Any questions - feel free to drop me a message. See you there
Please note: Please bring suitable footwear and clothing
We really encourage carpooling so that we can keep car numbers down both for the environment and the carparks. It's also a great way to get to know some people.
Please make sure to bring:
• Sturdy, and suitable footwear for cycling
•Waterproof clothing, it is England after all
•Warm/cold weather layers. Prepare for all weather
•Enough water, plus extra just in case, for the duration of the event
•Lunch and snacks as needed. There won't often be places to buy things en route
Etiquette - If you can no longer attend the event, please remember to cancel yours and / or your guests rsvp as we often have people on the waiting list and it means we won't wait around for you either
Please note that the organisers may not have done these routes before, so bear with us whilst we navigate.
You are joining these events at your own risk and are fully responsible for yourself and the choices and actions you choose to take at these events.
Meetup charge organisers to run these groups, and therefore, we would appreciate a £1 donation to help toward the cost of the group. Anything extra will go toward maps, apps, and first aid.
Please bring £1 on the event or pay as a friend payment via PayPal
