What we’re about

Hello from the greater metro area of Portland and Washington!

The purpose of this group is to create a safe space for all to enjoy. We are a 50+ Lesbian, trans, bi, single, couples of women (if you identify as a woman, you are welcome here, although we are a Lesbian group we are open to our straight ally friends and those younger if you don’t mind hanging out with us seasoned lesbians).

Don't like to hang out at the bars anymore? Neither do we. Would you like a smaller group to connect with and be able to make real connections? Then this group is for you. We love playing board games, card games, dice games... any type of gaming is cool with us. We are always up to learning new games. One game we like to host once a month is our popular Bunco game! We usually have a great crowd for this.

In the summertime we love to be outdoors, hiking, biking, walking, kayaking, SUPs, and anything else we can think of. In colder weather, we are cool hanging out indoors, bowling, billiards, laser tag, mini-golf, game afternoons and many more activities.

We have organized many and varied events, both one-offs and recurring, so you might want to check out our calendar to get a better idea of the seasonal flavor of what we offer.  These include but are not limited to pickleball, card games, bunco, board games, Mahjong, billiards, festivals, community celebrations, holiday celebrations, murder mystery, potlucks, restaurant dining, plays, dance, concerts, sporting events, movies, hiking, biking, walking, camping and kayaking/SUP.

Your suggestions for adventures, simple social sessions, or extravagant get-togethers are welcomed. We seek a variety of events and organizers so please suggest activities and step up to lead when you can. We are always seeking folks to host. The more we have, the more events we can host, and this would allow us to cover more areas of Portland and Washington.

We encourage our members to be actively involved by suggesting events including adventures, social activities, or other get-togethers. We also encourage members to serve as “hostess” for an event along with our full support.

We attempt to be responsive to the wants and needs in our community and usually have a full group signing up for our events along with a waitlist. Please know that sign-ups are encouraged even when the event is full as we pull from our waitlists as often as we can.

We do seek donations at our events, which will go directly to covering the cost of the Meetup fees. The fees have recently gone up to $179 every six months. If we end up with more than we need to cover the Meetup costs, then money will be used for Meetup items, such as paper goods for hosting potlucks and buying food for picnics, or potlucks, etc. The goal is not to make money, but to be able to keep quality and wonderful friends in our group who are willing to make our group the best possible and help our hosts to offset the price of Meetup.

The most important consideration of this lesbian group is that all members offer respect, maturity, and kindness to one another. Bullying, harassment, or unwanted / unkind actions toward others is promptly and appropriately addressed. These are grounds for being kicked out of our group. If you see this type of action or have been on the receiving end of this, please talk to Monica, Michelle, Denise or Linda, so that we can address these issues and figure out our best course of action going forward.

One of our members described our group as a meaningful, inclusive community that provides friendship, fun, and support with depth, values, and commitment to communication.  We each bring a unique worthwhile piece to this community.  Join us and add your qualities.  We look forward to enjoying time with you and you enjoying time with us.  The journey traveled is so much better with friends.

One Additional Rule:
Since we are building community, any member that has not accessed our site for at least 6 months will be removed from the group. Please note that removed members may rejoin after a 30-day suspension (this is automatically done by Meetup when someone is removed from the group) by following our admission process.
