Welcome to the New York Backpackers!
We're a club of outdoor enthusiasts who come together for day hikes, weekend backpacking trips, and longer excursions. We love all outdoor sports such as rock climbing, ice climbing, kayaking, alpine, nordic, or telemark skiing, snowboarding and biking.

Details
Come join us for a fun kid-friendly weekend at Kenneth L. Wilson Campground in the Catskills. Completely surrounded by the beautiful Catskill mountains, with panoramic views creating a picturesque setting, Kenneth L. Wilson Campground offers secluded, wooded campsites and many outdoor activities. Campers can enjoy a hike on the nature trails or ride on the mountain bike trail (for advanced riders), and nearby villages offer numerous shops and restaurants, as well as inner-tubing the river.
The park offers tent and trailer sites; a picnic area with tables and grills; restrooms with showers; horse shoe pits; a trailer dump station; a recycling center; playground; dog park; ADA accessible nature walk and fishing pier; a bathhouse; pay phones; picnic shelter reservations and boat rentals. If you want to be added to these sites (limited space), let me know and I will charge you $26 and assign you to a site. A couple key campground rules:
- Campers may check in from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. but must register and occupy their campsite by 9:00 p.m. on the first night of their reservation or the campsite will be subject to re-rental and fees may be forfeited.
- Campers must vacate their campsite no later than 11:00 a.m. on the final day.
- All fires must be built in the fireplaces provided for that purpose.
- No fires are permitted except for cooking, warmth, or smudge.
- Quiet must be observed between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Food
Everyone usually brings their own food and utensils. You can coordinate with the person you are driving with, to stop at supermarket on the way up.Equipment:

This is a self-organized event- you will need to get your own site or get added to one of the 3 booked, you figure out how to get there, figure out what activities you want to do, ask for what you need. We will start a WhatsApp chat closer to the weekend so that we can coordinate last minute details.
There are many activities in the area including hiking, biking, tubing, and more.On Saturday June 7, some of us will probably hike Mount Tremper Trail- 5.9miles out and back, 2000ft elevation gain: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-york/mount-tremper-trail. When I create an activities spreadsheet you can note what activity you are planning to do if you want others to join.

IMPORTANT: This is a kid-friendly camping trip! If you are child-free you are more than welcome to join but we will have at least an infant and a toddler here and welcome any additional children!
