What we’re about
Oak Park and surrounding area locals unite around the following mission:
- Create meaningful connections
- Supporting Oak Park and surrounding area businesses
- Giving back to the community via local non-profit support
Note: this is not a hook up group. Please act accordingly keeping interactions respectful and appropriate. Persons who fail to act accordingly will be removed from the group at our sole discretion.
We do not charge for membership in the group but will occasionally ask members to support local non-profit organizations in lieu of paying any type of membership fee.

See all- Volunteer Food Repack at the Greater Chicago Food DepositoryGreater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago, IL
Back by popular demand for the third consecutive year!
Looking for a fun way to expand your social network while also giving back to your community? Join us for a volunteer repack session at the Greater Chicago Food Depository, where I happen to work. It will be a very fun and fulfilling experience. Anyone over the age of 11 is welcome!
Most of the food that arrives at the Food Depository arrives in bulk. Volunteers are needed to help repack the items into more manageable portions so that we can get out to our 800 partner pantries across Chicago and Cook County to feed our neighbors in need. We’d love your help.
Free parking is available.
PLEASE NOTE:
For safety and hygiene reasons, all visitors to the Food Depository’s warehouse and kitchens at 4100 West Ann Lurie Place, Chicago, are required to wear:- a shirt that covers the shoulders,
- pants that cover the ankles, and
- closed-toe shoes.
- In some instances, guests may be required to wear a hair net (supplied). Thank you for your cooperation.

Please bring your lawn chair, sunscreen, blanket, tarp and cooler. The more tarps/blankets we have the better chance we will have the space for our group. Last year we had 100+ here.
Not finding anything about bringing alcohol in, but will assume that it isn't allowed. No one checked coolers last year but not sure if that will change this year.
Personal tents or canopies aren't allowed this year.
## Food and Beverages
Come and enjoy a wide variety of gastronomic delicacies from some of Oak Brook’s favorite restaurants. Stop by Alter Brewing + Kitchen’s expanded beer garden for a cold beverage and relax in the generous seating area while taking in the live entertainment on the Flood Brothers main stage.
I will be there at 4:00. Come whenever you want. However, the more who come earlier the easier it will be to carve out a larger space for our group and greater chance you can sit with or near our group.
Per usual, I will post in pics and comment where I am at once I arrive.
I will have a green beaded light up necklace on as well as a bike flag on and a balloon on my chair. Please look for the picture and comments in order to find us.

Parking
If want to car pool with others in order to split parking cost, please feel free to do so. A bunch of us last year met at the parking lot outside of the Oak Brook Mall's Macy's lot closest to 22nd street. No issues leaving our cars there for the day/night.
Feel free to reach out to others in comments section of this event if interested in car pooling. I will not be organizing that part.
It goes without saying, the cheaper the parking is, the furthest it is away from event location. I car pooled with three others and we split the $50 cost for VIP parking. Brought in my own dinner, snacks and drinks so the whole day cost me under $13. A good deal seeing there are two really good bands, DJs and Fireworks!
