What we’re about
Enjoy playing/singing folk, rock, bluegrass, oldies R&B, jazz, pop and/or songs from the Great American Songbook then you need to join the Ormond Beach Acoustic Jammers. OBAJ is a relaxed, no pressure, no judgement, no politics, no religion zone for adults over the age of 21. All ego's will be checked at the door therefore it’s all about a fun atmosphere to enjoy playing and singing music. Jams may be held as private or public events. You choose those that you wish to attend.
HOW IT WORKS:
The Ormond Beach Acoustic Jammers format is a traditional circle jam where everyone will get a chance to play or pass. All players/singers are welcome to join in on any song that is played. Players must be courteous and follow the person who selected the song (not louder, faster, etc.).
All skill levels are welcome. The simpler the song the more people can participate. If you don’t know a song, simply play softly until you figure it out or just listen and enjoy. Singers who do not play an instrument will need to pass on song selection unless one of the players can play the song that the singer wants to sing.
All acoustic instruments are welcome. The person hosting the jam may choose to allow an electric bass or piano with a small amp or allow non-playing guests. This will be posted in the description of the jam.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
Don’t let the name fool you, OBAJ draw members from Volusia, Flagler, Lake, Orange, St Johns, Duval, Seminole and other counties of north and central Florida. Snowbirds are welcome too! Whether or not you are a professional musician, a living room musician, a shower stall singer who wants to test your chops or someone just getting back into music after a long hiatus, OBAJ is a place where you can learn, practice, play and enjoy with your peers.
