What we’re about
This meetup group is focused on innovation in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. We are particularly interested in bringing people interested in closing the gap between academia and industry together, and in cutting-edge science and technology solutions capable of transforming the world, in particular, in the field of healthcare.

You are invited to the 1st International Online Conference of the Journal Philosophies (IOCPh 2025), part of the official programme contributing to the 2025 IS4SI Summit.
Hosted on Sciforum, this fully online gathering brings together leading voices from philosophy, science, and technology to explore the foundations and the future of intelligence, both natural and artificial.
One of the programme’s key highlights will be a featured talk by Dr. Hector Zenil, offering a provocative new lens on the limitations of today’s AI and how we might rethink the way we assess Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

Title: Why LLMs Can’t Escape the Pattern-Matching Prison if They Don’t Learn Recursive Compression
Speaker: Dr. Hector Zenil
Date: 12 June 2025 (Thursday)
Time: 13:00–14:00 CEST | 07:00 (EDT, New York) | 19:00 (CST, Beijing)This talk will introduce SuperARC, a new open-ended test grounded in algorithmic probability and Kolmogorov complexity. It is designed to critically reassess claims of AGI and Artificial Superintelligence (ASI).
By contrasting large language models (LLMs) with hybrid neurosymbolic systems, the session highlights key limitations in today’s AI. These include its shallow pattern-matching focus, lack of deep abstraction, and fragility in reasoning. This intervention calls for a philosophical rethinking of what intelligence really is, and how we measure it, both in machines and in ourselves.
