What we’re about
Welcome to Open Minds Neurodivergent Meetup Group!
Here, finally, is a safe space for all of those living with mental quirks, disabilities, and perks to get together and have fun!
Neurodivergent: A (positive) term used to describe people whose brains work differently than most people, resulting in different strengths and challenges.
We hope that you come to this group with the mindset of taking care of yourself and that you have your support system and self-care practice in place. This is not a support group like what is offered by organizations such as NAMI. With that being said, this is still a free space to discuss the ups and downs of living with a “different” sort of brain chemistry.
This group is “suggestion-based” which means that our organizers take into account the ideas of its participants for future activities. Please share what you’re most passionate about and we’ll make it happen! We meet every two weeks and publish four upcoming events every month.
Activity favorites so far have been:
Hiking in nature
Cookouts and lawn games
Board games
Coffee shop Meetups
Arts and crafts
Museum visits
Walks around local Minneapolis lakes
If you have any questions or suggestions please message hosts Owen or Melissa!
Cheers.
