What we’re about

We are a new group of Orange County women (50+) who love to travel and are looking to build friendships and find travel buddies. Local hikes, socials, and weekend getaways are planned for the purpose of building genuine friendships with other local women with the same common interest in travel.

Sat, Nov 2, 2024, 9:00 AM PDTOCCATS November Hike & Lunch (Shady Canyon at Turtle Rock Community Park)
Turtle Rock Community Park, Irvine, CA
HIKE: Please be a few minutes early (by 8:45am) as we will begin right at 9am. This is a 5 mile total, out and back walk on the Shady Canyon Walking Trail in Irvine. There are a few steady hills on this walk. Hiking poles can be helpful on some of the uphill sections. There are public restrooms at the halfway turn around point. We'll take a short rest there while people use the facilities. Hiking shoes are not needed on this trail, but good walking shoes that don't slip easily are recommended.
We'll meet at the Shady Canyon Trailhead sign beside the tennis courts (to your left by the parking circle as you enter the parking lot) at Turtle Rock Community Park in Irvine (1 Sunnyhill, Irvine).
There are restrooms available at the community center at the other end of the main parking lot. Please allow yourself an extra 10 minutes before the walk if you will need to use the restroom. Bring water and wear sunscreen!

Please see the red map marker on this posting for the exact meeting spot. There is ADDITIONAL PARKING in a small lot on Turtle Rock Dr., and across Turtle Rock Dr. on the street on Southern Wood. Both are about a five minute walk to the meeting spot.

We will meet afterwards for lunch at about 11:15am at the California Fish Grill at 3988 Barranca Pkwy in Irvine (NEW PLACE for us).
If it rains, the hike is canceled, but the lunch is still on!

This is our monthly informal, social meet-up lunch. We will be meeting at Tender Greens Restaurant (ACROSS from the fountain in front of the Regal Theaters) at the Irvine Spectrum. We welcome new members and guests who are interested in finding out more about our group of fantastic, traveling women (50+)! We will be talking about our favorite topic of travel, our upcoming events/trips, and most of all getting to know each other. Each person orders their own lunch. Look for a group of ladies, wearing name tags on the patio.

This is a monthly informal happy hour event (private OCCAT event, non-hosted) to encourage members to meet each other and make connections with other local women who love to travel. It is our hope that genuine friendships, travel buddies, and possible travel groups will naturally develop. We have many new members who have not yet attended any of our events. We also welcome guests (women only). You may invite a friend, but please include in your RSVP. Let's meet up!
