What we’re about
Welcome! We are the Orange County Sierrans Section of the National Sierra Club Angeles Chapter. Our schedule includes Hiking, Backpacking, hikes for Conservation, special Newcomer events, BBQ’s, State Parks camping/hiking, winter sports activities, ski trips, bus trips and Adventure Travel. We are open to people of all ages and marital, ethnic status. Our events are led by qualified leaders who have been through extensive leadership training before they receive their leadership rating. Orange County Sierrans may sponsor local events as well as international and out of state events, so we are a little more than a local organization. We are backed by the 40,000 member Angeles Chapter and the 650,000 member National Sierra Club. The Angeles Chapter boundaries are from Santa Clarita to San Clemente, from the ocean to the foothills. The Sierra Club is the oldest and largest environmental grassroots organization in the nation. The Sierra Club was founded in 1892 by the famous naturalist, John Muir. Not only was this guy America’s best known voice from the wilderness and a most effective conservation leader but he was a fearless mountaineer taking enormous risks climbing in the High Sierra, solo travel on crevassed glaciers and exploring Alaska in a little canoe. We have a long tradition of outdoor activities, so come join us. You might even want to become a member of the Sierra Club and know you are helping to save our remaining wild places. “Explore, Enjoy and Protect.”
