This is for all the night owls!! We will rendezvous at midnight on Saturday night/Sunday morning (yes, the witching hour!!) to shoot the Milky Way from a TBD location in Borrego Springs. If you are on the "go" list, be sure your Meetup settings allow you to receive messages, as that's how I'll notify you of the location. Also, if weather isn't cooperating, I'll send a message if we need to cancel. (Hopefully this one will happen!!)

The Milky Way will begin rising at 11:59 pm, and will rise into an arc as the night goes on.

A few important notes:
1. It will be very dark when you arrive - have your gear all set up and ready to go before you leave your house.
2. This is not a good event for beginners, we usually do a beginner event later in the season.
3. If you are no-show or cancel at the last minute, you will not be able to attend any other 2025 Milky Way events.

Bring your widest and fastest lens, a sturdy tripod, a remote shutter release, a flashlight with red light capability, and caffeine! Snacks and a chair are also recommended. Plan for it to be cold, dress accordingly!

Join us for a morning walk around downtown La Jolla to photograph many of La Jolla's murals (muralsoflajolla.com) as well as additional unique aspects of the village. There are lots of diverse murals scattered around downtown La Jolla.

We will meet in front of the Cave Store and take the group photo and set out at 7:30AM sharp. Our two mile route will take us past almost all La Jolla murals, but there are also architectural photo ops, detail photos, shop windows, etc.

Parking: There should be plenty of free parking along Coast Blvd. or nearby streets.

Lenses: To get photos of the murals in their entirety a wide angle lens, such as 12-24, 14-24, 16-35, etc. will work best. Medium zooms, such as 24-70 will also work, especially if you want detail photos.

Add-on Option: Since we will be so close wehnarive at our starting point, we will be offering an option for an additional short walk on part of the Coast Walk Trail that overlooks the Shores and Cave. This additional walk will add nearly a mile and about 30-40 minutes to the overall event. Those that opt for this additional Coast Walk will loop back to the mural walk so you won't miss any of those.

Join us for a fun car show with many photo ops in Coronado. We've been photographing this show for many years and it has been great!

This will be Coronado's 36th Annual MotorCars on MainStreet, featuring many exotic vehicles along with restored classic and custom cars. The event showcases more than 400 amazing vehicles and it is held in downtown Coronado, one block from the beach, at Isabella & Orange Avenues. Thousands of spectators are expected and viewing is FREE.

Medium zoom lenses will probably work best for this, but you can also use wide angle and longer zooms for detail.

If you RSVP “YES”, please show up, otherwise you will be marked a No Show. If you need to change your RSVP, please do so in a timely manner.

Join us for a photo shoot in Old Town San Diego for Cinco de Mayo. During Fiesta Cinco de Mayo, the Market stage becomes a pulsating hub of live music and dancing. Talented musicians take center stage, filling the historic plaza with the vibrant sounds of mariachi, salsa, and cumbia, uniting people from all walks of life in the joyous spirit of Cinco de Mayo.

We will meet at the Cosmopolitan Hotel at 9:40 AM. At 9:45 AM, we will take the group photo and then wander around Old Town taking photos. It will be difficult to stay together as a group, so we will probably shoot in smaller groups as the event progresses. The entertainment starts around 11, but there are plenty of photo ops earlier in the day.

I suggest you bring your medium (24-105) or longer (70-200) focal length zooms because of the nature of the photo-ops. Bring comfortable walking shoes because we will be on our feet several hours.

Some special announcements for this shoot:

Parking will be tight, so you may want to carpool, take the trolley, or arrive early. There is usually parking available in the Caltrans Lot on 4050 Taylor Street, a short walk away.

I plan to arrive an hour or so ahead, find some breakfast, and walk around. Let me know if you'd like to get together earlier for breakfast. You can text me at 619-572-5869. I encourage you to arrive early!
If you are running late, please let me know when you arrive.

Please only submit an RSVP for this event if you’re 100% sure you will attend. You will be counted as a no-show if you do not show up or if you change your RSVP right before an event. You may be blocked from attending specific events after one no-show, and you will be removed as a member if you accrue three no-shows.
