Welcome to Paddle LA and OC!
Love paddleboarding/kayaking and looking for an active, fun community to join? Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or a total beginner, this group is for everyone who wants to enjoy the water, get in a good workout, and connect with great people.
We partner with local rental companies, but bringing your own board is always a plus! Most of our paddles launch from Long Beach, though we’re always excited to explore new spots—feel free to suggest your favorite places!
After each paddle, we love sharing photos from the water, so make sure to snap a few! If you prefer not to be featured, just let us know. You can share your pics with the group on Meetup or in our Facebook group: Paddle LA and OC Facebook Group (JOIN).

We’re joining forces with our friends from Paddle LA and OC and the Kaba Nui Paddle Crew for a Halloween paddle like no other! Join our big happy paddle family for a spooktacular evening on the water, featuring a glow paddle and costume contest. Whether you’re a ghost, goblin, or glittering sea creature, this is your chance to get creative and have some Halloween fun! 🧛🧙♀️
### Event Details:
- 4:00 PM: Meet-up and prep time.
- 4:15 PM: Individual and couples photos before launch. Strike your best pose, as photos will be uploaded to our Facebook group ➡️ https://www.facebook.com/groups/paddlelaandoc/ for voting! We’ve got a juicy prize sponsored by my favorite Long Beach restaurant for the best costumes, so bring your A-game.
- 4:30 PM: Launch and paddle through the bay with all our glowing costumes.
- 6:30 PM: Wrap-up, with optional dinner at Noble Bird Rotisserie to warm up with good food and great company. (Dinner is optional so no pressure)
### What to Bring:
- Your paddleboard and all necessary gear.
- Your most creative Halloween costume! Remember, water safe and something you'll be comfortable paddling in is ideal.
- Lights for your board! Here’s a link for a rechargeable option that I recommend and use. https://amzn.to/3XVKJ6q These lights are waterproof and can easily attach to your board or be stashed in your dry bag. Plus, they’re perfect for our upcoming Christmas Light Paddle and other night paddles! 🌟
This event will be a lot of glowing fun and a fantastic chance to connect with our paddle family while showing your creative side.

Calling all paddlers that want to enjoy a night of paddling while the scary trick or treaters are wondering the streets. Feel free dress up if you’d like but no pressure.
Grab your board or kayak and meet us at Alamitos Bay in Long Beach. All skill levels are welcome, and you must be competent at paddling when it gets dark.
What you’ll need:
- A paddleboard or kayak
- A paddle (don’t forget this)
- A battery-operated light 💡🔦 so you can be seen by boats and others when it starts to get dark.
- Life vest/belt and a leash
- A Halloween outfit (optional)
Paddle Route:
- We will begin at the bay, paddle through the canals and we're going to do 3-4 in the canals, then return to our starting point. (Approx. 3 miles)
Timeline:
- On the sand, ready to go at 5:00pm
- Intro/stretch at 5:10pm
- Underway by 5:15pm
- Back by 6:30-6:45pm
- TBD - We may go somewhere for food/drinks after for whoever is interested.
Need to rent a board? Unfortunately, the rental facility is closed at our designated meet time. If you need to rent a board, our Saturday events would be best to join as the rental facility can accommodate at this time.
