What we’re about
Almost every Sunday (please check our calendar) we offer a class on meditation instruction and practice. The class generally practices "calm abiding" (shiney/samatha) meditation, which is the art of calming the mind as taught in Tibetan Buddhism. We also investigate "insight" (lag-tong/vipashyana), the meditation practice that enables deeper insight into the nature of self and the world to positively transform our relationship with ourselves and with others. No experience is needed. All are welcome, including you.

From His thorough examination of all aspects of mind, Lord Buddha described how experience could be categorized into The Five Aggregates (skandhas). This way of analyzing experience breaks the hold on the belief in a unitary self, or in self as a causal agent, which, in turn, leads to liberation. All are welcome to join our 90-minute on-line, class on The Five Aggregates beginning at 8:30 a.m. (EST) on Aug. 10th.
In our weekly classes, we explore the richly variegated jewel that is Tibetan Buddhist doctrine or liturgy, including a short meditation or two. There is plenty of time for Q-&-A. All interested beings are warmly invited.

PCD-DC (Palyul Changchub Dargyeling—D.C. Area) is a Tibetan Buddhist Dharma center affiliated with Palyul Ling International. Every Sunday morning (please check our calendar for occasional irregularities) we offer a class aimed at learning about Tibetan Buddhism. Each class includes instruction on various aspects of the Buddhist practices, or meditation, and discussion of those instructions. Classes are led by senior students of our Palyul spiritual lineage masters. Our teachers include His Holiness Pema Norbu Rinpoche, Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoche, and others. All who are interested, including beginners, are welcome; there are no prerequisites. Time for Q&A is available.

This Sunday’s selection is entitled Peaceful Heart**: The Buddhist Practice of Patience, by Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche. In this book, Rinpoche expands on teachings by the ancient sage/poet Shantideva that contain numerous effective and surprising methods for preventing our minds from becoming overpowered by emotions amidst adversities and conflicts. This meeting is part 2 of 2 for this book.
Dzigar Kongtrul was recognized by H. H. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche as an emanation of Jamgön Kongtrul the Great. Among his many accom-plishments, Kongtrul founded Mangala Shri Bhuti, an organization established to further the practice of the Longchen Nyingtik and Khyen-Kong Chok-sum lineages.
