What we’re about
All our day walks should be easily accessible for Manchester, Sheffield, East Midlands, West Midlands, West Yorkshire and many with good rail links even from London and the South.
Browse our Meetup site and you'll find lots of cracking walks and one or two bike rides as well.
We also have a big schedule of low cost weekends away throughout the year summarised at the link below.
https://www.peakmeetupgroup.com/weekends
We're a group for all ages and stages and I guarantee you'll be made very welcome at any of our events.
If unsure about anything please ask.
Although everyone can join our group without charge, we are a a subscription based group which means that rather than make a charge for individual walks or require members to join the Ramblers Association to take part as some walking groups do, we levy a recurring Annual Membership charge of £10 or offer Life Membership for a one off payment of £35 but we allow your very first THREE MONTHS ABSOLUTELY FREE after which you need to make a decision about your continuing membership of the group. (Free period does not apply to re-joining members)
Full details are at:- https://www.peakmeetupgroup.com/membership
Most of our active members have at some point taken out Life Membership of the group but once achieved requires no further membership payments throughout the life of their membership.
We understand that new members may be little uncomfortable at parting with payments no matter how small without knowledge and experience of our lovely group so also give THREE MONTHS UNCONDITIONAL MONEY BACK GUARANTEE from the date of payment on any subscription payments you make.
The kitty we generate through membership payments enables us to offer a massive program of budget weekends away and to pay our Meetup Fees, Liability Insurance and other expenses. All our activities are entirely NOT FOR PROFIT and none of our organisers or walk leaders draws any income whatsoever. Any income surplus is ploughed back into creating new events.
Please note that we do consider it essential for our group where members do meet each other 'live' that new members should use a sensible screen name that they expect to be addressed by and that they are prepared to upload/show a recognisable profile picture of themselves on our Meetup site.

See all- The Bosley Cloud from Rushton SpencerThe Knot Inn, Macclesfield
The Cloud is a gritstone promontory in North Staffordshire that many recognise but cannot name. From its summit you can enjoy wide views across the Cheshire Plain and the Cheshire and Staffordshire Moorlands that lie within the Peak District National Park.
Our easier circular walk starting from the village of Rushton Spencer begins at a small car park on the Staffordshire Way beside the Knot Inn which is reached off the A523 Leek to Macclesfield road. Note the car park is not the pub car park and actually lies on the site of the railway track bed that forms the long distance footpath in this area. After parking walk back to the road and meet next to the Knot Inn.
Do bring plenty of snacks and drinks and a lunch packup as unlikely we shall find somewhere for these on our route.
Please take LOTS of pictures and upload them to this Meetup page so everyone can see how much fun you had.
Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be put on a lead near to livestock and should not bark or jump up incessantly.
Lift sharing is strongly encouraged, just leave a message below if offering or asking for a lift.
We do not wait for latecomers!

What3Words: mistaking.decompose.views - Amazing Easter Walking and Social Weekend in Arran 2025Lochranza Youth Hostel, Isle of Arran£179.00
Arran is a beautiful, magical Scottish Island, south of Glasgow so relatively short car journey, and easily accessible by low cost ferry trip from Ardrossan (£5 each way / £20 for cars). Arran has some splendid granite mountains, with beautiful ridges and fantastic sea views. As well as wonderful mountain walks and scrambles, there are great coast walks, and plenty of interesting things to see and do (ranging from standing stones, to visiting the lovely Holy Island).
More info at:
https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/arran/
Many say that visiting Arran is like seeing the whole of Scotland on a single Island. Beautiful.
Each year as soon as SYHA Lochranza on Arran becomes available for exclusive hire we attempt a booking as this is such a fabulous location and for 2025 our prayers have been answered as our exclusive hire booking has been accepted. Yes it is quite a way ahead, but that's what we have to do to secure such spectacular locations
Accommodation is included from Good Friday 18th April 2025 for THREE nights to Easter Monday 21st April 2025 but as long as you do so early enough it shouldn't be a problem to add extra nights before or after the weekend to make a longer break. We hope to be on the Island from around the 15th or 16th so plenty of scope to organise some extra walks and to get together for evening meals etc.
There will definitely be a choice of walks on the Friday meeting at 9:45am and 11:45m latest, close to Brodick so participants can join the walks even if they are arriving on the morning ferry and a similar choice of walks on each of the other days of the weekend so something for everyone.
Goatfell is a must as is Caisteal Abhail, a lovely mountain with graceful ridges and fine sea and mountain views.

But there is loads to choose from at low and high level so genuinely something for everyone.
Accommodation is in single sex dormitory style rooms with all bedding provided but not towels. Food is provided from dinner on the Friday through to lunch packups for Easter Monday and we do cater for all the usual dietary requirements for which we issue a simple information request shortly before the event start date. As all our organisers and walk leaders are unpaid volunteers we are able to keep our prices amazingly low but this also means we need a small amount of help from each person attending to help with either meal prep or clearup for just one mealtime over the weekend which we manage via a kitchen rota.
The cost for any remaining places will have to be paid at the full cost of £179 when you book EITHER via Meetup to which must be added Meetup booking fees OR by BACS at the outset. Please let us know if you are doing this and we will manually add you to the event attendee list.
Account Code: 40848442
Sort Code: 56-00-61
Account Name: Peak Activities & Leisure LimitedThose who have already paid a deposit now need to pay the balance of £129 without further delay or your places will be lost.
If you have to cancel with more than 28 clear days notice your full balance payment will be refunded but not the deposit value. No refunds will be provided to those cancelling with less than 28 clear days notice. ("clear" means does not include event start date or cancellation date!
It would not be possible to provide the range of events we do or to cover the cost of insurance and now increasing Meetup fees if we were not a subscription based group which means paying an annual subscription of £10pa or a Life Membership subscription in which case further payments are not necessary.
If attending our weekends away as an unpaid or lapsed subscriber or as a non member guest you are required to pay an additional £10 when balances become due. This applies to all events starting on or after 1st January 2025
