What we’re about
Time to tempt your palate with all the pleasurable flavors that LA, and beyond, has to offer!
Join Pleasure Palate as we do culinary adventures exploring of restaurants (both high-end & holes-in-the-wall), food & beverage tastings, and more. From savory to sweet, spicy to tangy, ethnic to All-American, we'll taste it all! Come along and let us take your taste buds on the ride of their life!
Because we want to burn off some of the calories that we eat, many of our events will have both a dining and physical activity paired together. We do many day trips and weekend adventures that combine the best of both dining and experiencing what LA, SoCal and beyond has to offer in terms of dining options and points of interests.
Pleasure Palate has been around for over 13 years now and in that time we have had over 2,000 events. We offer at least 8 events per month for our members to choose from. This is a very active MeetUp group.
We will focus on various aspects of urban, suburban and rural life, ranging from architectural to cultural, historical to quirky and/or a combination of any of the above to help give you a better appreciation of where we live. Oh, and bring your camera because we encourage all our members to take photos and share their experiences with us on the event pages.
MeetUp charges over $200 each year to maintain the Pleasure Palate site. In addition, it costs a lot of money to maintain memberships to historical societies, newspaper and magazine subscriptions - all to get ideas for future events. So we ask for a voluntary $12.00 annual donation to help defray the costs that MeetUp charges. Members who donate $12 per year get Plus Member status which allows them to bump off a Regular member for a event which is already full. Plus Members can't bump off other Plus members.

I have been taking the group to San Diego Open House almost every other year for at least 8 or more years now. We skipped last year, so we are going this year. There's also a Vietnamese fusion restaurant in the Golden Hill district I've been wanting to dine at ever since I watched a YouTube video covering it. Finally, we will also visit the newly renovated Arboretum in Balboa Park to see it in its fully restored glory.
More info on Open House!:
Open House San Diego is a free, annual public showcase that promotes appreciation of San Diego’s urban environment through behind-the scenes access to and information about buildings and public spaces. It’s an exciting opportunity for you to learn about the importance of thoughtful and innovative architecture, urban planning and design. Through Open House you have the opportunity to dialogue with architects, design enthusiasts and neighbors about the future of our city and participate in building a more vibrant civic life. The buildings and spaces we build today – as well as those we protect and repurpose – will define the San Diego of tomorrow. - Coachella Valley Weekened Getaway: DesertX 2025Delos Reyes Palm Springs, Palm Springs, CA

If we get more than 6 people, then we will need another designated driver and I can rent more than 1 vehicle if needed. If you carpool with me, we will start from my home residence in the City of Carson.
- We will be having breakfast lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday at various restaurants.
- The total estimated cost for this weekend getaway for meals, transportation and hotel lodging is estimated around $500 per person.
- I booked a room here: Delos Reyes Palm Springs, Palm Springs (updated prices 2025)
- If you are unable to book a room at Delos Reyes, then choose a place less than 2 miles away from it, because I am not your chauffer.
- You must be a dog lover or tolerate dogs, because I'm bringing along my two pomeranians, TimTam and Cacao, to this road trip.
For the past 10 years, I have been organizing trips for DesertX which occurs every other year. So this year it starts in March and that would be a perfect time to go when the weather in the desert is still mild and 1 month ahead from the Coachella Festival.

I just hosted a lunch at Crab House in Koreatown and the group had a really good experience feasting on their soy marinated crab and spicy crab stew. Well their main competitor is called Master Ha and that one was recommend by PP members Yumi and Kiyo. So we will try out and compare both their crab and uni dishes along with anything else that looks delicious in their menu.

This morning I received an email from the Glendale Historical Society (GHS) notifying me that they would be offering a tour of 3 churches in Forest Lawn that are normally closed off to the public (unless you are attending funerary services). I have attended prior tours offered by GHS in the past and I haven't visited these chapels yet, so I decided to buy a ticket. Since I will be in Glendale, I figure might as well pair it off with lunch at an Armenian restaurant I've been wanting to try out as well. So we will first have lunch at Mini Kabob and then go on the guided churches tour!
