What we’re about
Time to tempt your palate with all the pleasurable flavors that LA, and beyond, has to offer!
Join Pleasure Palate as we do culinary adventures exploring of restaurants (both high-end & holes-in-the-wall), food & beverage tastings, and more. From savory to sweet, spicy to tangy, ethnic to All-American, we'll taste it all! Come along and let us take your taste buds on the ride of their life!
Because we want to burn off some of the calories that we eat, many of our events will have both a dining and physical activity paired together. We do many day trips and weekend adventures that combine the best of both dining and experiencing what LA, SoCal and beyond has to offer in terms of dining options and points of interests.
Pleasure Palate has been around for over 13 years now and in that time we have had over 2,000 events. We offer at least 8 events per month for our members to choose from. This is a very active MeetUp group.
We will focus on various aspects of urban, suburban and rural life, ranging from architectural to cultural, historical to quirky and/or a combination of any of the above to help give you a better appreciation of where we live. Oh, and bring your camera because we encourage all our members to take photos and share their experiences with us on the event pages.
MeetUp charges over $200 each year to maintain the Pleasure Palate site. In addition, it costs a lot of money to maintain memberships to historical societies, newspaper and magazine subscriptions - all to get ideas for future events. So we ask for a voluntary $12.00 annual donation to help defray the costs that MeetUp charges. Members who donate $12 per year get Plus Member status which allows them to bump off a Regular member for a event which is already full. Plus Members can't bump off other Plus members.

- Make sure to get the Saturday, October 26th show at 2 PM. I bought a ticket located at Location CTR Section CTR Row D Seat 106. My ticket cost $80.25 including all their fees.
I enjoy the art aesthetic of Shag so when I saw he had a murder mystery musical themed show that was going to play in late October in Torrance, i knew I had to check it out. Since the Torrance Cultural Arts Center isn't far from Downtown Torrance, I figured might as well pair it off with lunch at Miyabi Uni at 11:30 AM, before heading to the show which starts at 2 PM. So come join me at Torrance for uni and Shag!

- This is a limited seating event. I can only make a table reservation for 12 people. So if you sign up and then No Show or cancel for whatever reason 72 hours before the start of the event, you will be promptly removed and banned from the group. I don't put up with flakes.
- We will choose the Silver Tier menu option at Chubby Cattle which is a base cost of $55 but with tax and tip that amounts to $72 per person: Chubby Cattle Little Tokyo - Chubby Group
Ordering drinks will cost you extra and that is not shared cost with the group. - After stuffing our faces at Chubby Cattle, you have the option to join me at the 2 PM entry admission for the Olafur Eliasson: OPEN exhibit at the Geffen Contemporary MOCA. Admission is $18 and I highly recommend you purchase your ticket now before its sells out: MOCA Tickets and Memberships (ticketapp.org)
- More info on the museum exhibit: Olafur Eliasson: OPEN • MOCA
- The museum is walking distance from Chubby Cattle. After checking out the museum, there is a bonus round of checking out the exhibit at Hauser & Wirth Gallery which is also walking distance within Little Tokyo.
I few months ago I read about the Olafur Eliasson: OPEN exhibit. It looked promising and then a few weeks ago, a PP member went and shared her photos of the exhibit on social media and that sealed the deal for me to check it out. Since this is a dining group, I had to pair it off with a restaurant, so Chubby Cattle with its promise of high quality meats in an AYCE format intrigued me. So come join me in Little Tokyo to stuff your face with meat at Chubby Cattle and then enjoy some art exhibits!
