What weāre about
Time to tempt your palate with all the pleasurable flavors that LA, and beyond, has to offer!
Join Pleasure Palate as we do culinary adventures exploring of restaurants (both high-end & holes-in-the-wall), food & beverage tastings, and more. From savory to sweet, spicy to tangy, ethnic to All-American, we'll taste it all! Come along and let us take your taste buds on the ride of their life!
Because we want to burn off some of the calories that we eat, many of our events will have both a dining and physical activity paired together. We do many day trips and weekend adventures that combine the best of both dining and experiencing what LA, SoCal and beyond has to offer in terms of dining options and points of interests.
Pleasure Palate has been around for over 13 years now and in that time we have had over 2,000 events. We offer at least 8 events per month for our members to choose from. This is a very active MeetUp group.
We will focus on various aspects of urban, suburban and rural life, ranging from architectural to cultural, historical to quirky and/or a combination of any of the above to help give you a better appreciation of where we live. Oh, and bring your camera because we encourage all our members to take photos and share their experiences with us on the event pages.
MeetUp charges over $200 each year to maintain the Pleasure Palate site. In addition, it costs a lot of money to maintain memberships to historical societies, newspaper and magazine subscriptions - all to get ideas for future events. So we ask for a voluntary $12.00 annual donation to help defray the costs that MeetUp charges. Members who donate $12 per year get Plus Member status which allows them to bump off a Regular member for a event which is already full. Plus Members can't bump off other Plus members.

I have been wanting to tour the Bixby Marshland for a couple of years now. The challenge is its only open for half a day on the 1st Saturday of every month. So I'm making a point to finally check it out this Saturday. There's also a seafood restaurant that serves Cajun/Creole style seafood that I've been wanting to try out as well called Crab Shack. So after the tour of Bixby Marshland, we will have lunch at Crab Shack. So come join me for a few hours to check out what the city of Carson has to offer!
- Monterey Park: Lunch at Asayoru Maid CafeAsayoru Maid Cafe, Monterey Park, CA

- This is a limited seating event. If you sign up for this event and then cancel for whatever reason within 72 hours of the event, I will promptly kick you out of the group. So only sign up if you are 100 percent able to attend the event.
- Menu and pricing: Menu | Asayoru
- The estimated cost per son is between $40 to $60 (or more depending upon what food and add-ons you decide to order)
- Please note to take pics of the "maid" servers, you need to pay them which is listed in the bottom of the menu, along with the rules.
So I recently read an LA Times article describing a dining experience at Asayoru Maid Cafe. This place is all about kawaii and if you don't know what that means by now, then this event is not for you. The maid servers are supposed to be very fun and entertaining. I wish they offered an afternoon tea service, but I will settle for the items they have listed on their menu. So come join me for a fun and kawaii experience in Monterey Park!

I've been to Avocado, Lavender and Carrot Festivals, but there are still many produce related festivals in CA that I have yet to experience. One of them is the Asparagus Festival held in Stockton every April. So this is the year I have decided to finally go! In addition to the festival, we will also visit local museums and points of interest.
- Rampart Village to Pasadena: Carb Crawl for the best Pastries in LA CountyDoubting Thomas, Los Angeles, CA
Please Note: Read the directions carefully BEFORE you RSVP "Yes" for this event.
- This is a 4 part event. We will be visiting 4 places to try out their outstanding pastries. The first stop will be Doubting Thomas in Westlake/Rampart Village, then Modu Cafe in Highland Park followed by Fondry in Eagle Rock. Finally we will end it at Artisanal Goods by CAR.
- Plan on spending between $15 to $20 at each site, depending upon what you order.
- We are starting early at 7 AM because these 4 places are popular and have long lines by 8:30 AM. So I want to avoid the long lines as much as possible.
- If the group still wants more carbs, as a Bonus Round we can visit my fave pie shop which is in Eagle Rock - Knowrealitypie.
- Here is a video that will cover the 4 places that we will visit: Finding the best pastries in Los Angeles š„
I have been wanting to visit Fondry for about 2 years now to try out their croissants. Its supposed to be top tier so I want to compare it to my current fave place, Artisanal Goods by CAR. I recently heard about Modu Cafe and Doubting Thomas so I figured why not throw them into the mix and make this a bonafide Carb Crawl. So come join me as we visit several sites in AL County that claim to offer some of the best carbs we can taste!
