What we’re about
This is a group for Millennials/Gen Y folks who want to get out around Portland and meet more people. As one of the group's organizers (Hi, I'm Jay [they/them]!), this group has helped to create friendships and community for myself and others. Follow us on Instagram (@portlandmillennialsmeetup) for more happenings around Portland beyond our events.
I strive toward planning low-barrier and inclusive events, meaning that people of all backgrounds and abilities can participate. I look for opportunities for low cost and alcohol-free activities. Unfortunately, option can be limited by weather and venues suitable for our size group to hang out. I encourage anyone in the community who is interested in planning additional events to contact me. More organizers and more events are very welcome!
The values of this group are anti-racist and welcoming to people of all genders, sexual orientations, cultures, abilities, and neurodivergence. I try to approach conflict with curiosity and encourage the practice of "calling in" someone in response to a prejudiced comment, but harassment or disrespectful behavior is not tolerated.
The group's age demographic provides a common ground for building community within our cohort. Please reach out if you fall outside of Gen Y and are having trouble finding meetup groups.
A few more guidelines: If you sign up for an event, please try to keep to your commitment. If your plans change at any time, you should change your RSVP status. Members who have been inactive (i.e. haven't visited the website) for 3+ years will be removed from the group, but can rejoin at any time.
Wait lists: Some events fill up fast, but please join the wait list if you're interested in coming. People often get moved off the wait list. If there's a long wait list, I'll know to host a similar event soon.
Looking forward to meeting everyone and getting out and about!
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Board Games @ Another RoundAnother Round, Portland, ME
Meet us at Another Round at 6pm to play some board games! Another Round is a board game cafe/bar so they have a huge game library for us to use, but you're welcome to bring a game too. It is $3/person/hour of play and we'll be paying separately as individuals. Check out their full drink and snack menu here.
Getting there: Another Round is in the middle of downtown Portland. There isn't a parking lot, but you can find parallel parking if you don't mind walking 2-3 blocks. After 6pm, street parking is free and green hour limit signs don't apply.
I'll post updates in the comments so keep an eye out for those notifications. Stay home if you're feeling ill or exposed to someone sick.
- Burlesque Bingo @ Amigos Restaurant & BarAmigos Mexican Restaurant & Bar, Portland, ME
Amigos hosting Burlesque Bingo with Them Burlesque troupe. There will of course be bingo prizes(!), and they have mini games and performances between bingo rounds. There is a weekly theme TBA. Entry is free, but tips are encouraged for performers and staff. The event is held on the second floor.
Amigos has lots of food (menu here) and a full bar.
Them Burlesque is a body positive, gender affirming burlesque, drag, and circus troupe based in Portland. It's customary during drag and burlesque performances to tip with cash, but they'll probably have venmo options too.
Parking/Transportation: Amigos is in the Old Port on the peninsula. There bus options to get downtown. Street parking is free after 6pm, just make sure you're complying with red no-parking signs. If you park in a private lot, you'll probably be towed.

Not open - Flora & Refreshments @ TerrariumTerrarium, Portland, ME
January is cold and dark, but we can hang out in the lush environment of Terrarium. Terrarium is an urban garden center where we can build our own terrariums, and they also have a menu with snack and an assortment of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. The menu is here. No sweat if you don't want to build a terrarium - you can come just to hang out too!
Pricing depends on the terrarium you choose and starts at $28, which includes the glass jar as well as all plants and materials needed to build your terrarium. They keep a lot of options in stock, see examples and pricing HERE. You can bring your own glass container to use too, but I'm not sure how that affects the pricing.

Transportation: Congress Square Park is centrally located on the peninsula so taking the bus is an option. If you are driving in, street parking is free on Sunday. Free St is probably a good place to find a spot on the street. If you don’t want to parallel park and don’t mind paying, there’s a garage just down the block on 181 High St.
