What we’re about
The Prairie Club of Chicago would like to invite members of the public to join us on some of our outdoor activities. The Prairie Club was founded in 1908. The Club began by organizing hikes into the country as a way for people to escape the crowded urban environment of Chicago and enjoy nature in and around the city. Outdoor activities and conservation have been core values for the Prairie Club since its inception. The Prairie Club played a prominent role in the establishment of the Cook County Forest Preserve system, the Indiana Dunes State Park, and the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. In addition to weekend hiking, we will offer opportunities for canoeing/kayaking, and bicycling events during the year.
