What we’re about
We are the first Irish PyLadies group founded in 2013. Our focus is to help more women become active participants and leaders in the Python open-source community. Our mission is to promote, educate and advance a diverse Python community. PyLadies Dublin also aims to provide a friendly support network for women and a bridge to the larger Python world. Anyone with an interest in Python is encouraged to participate!

See all- 🎃 Pytch Workshop: Learn Python by Making Your Own Pytch Game! 🎃Unit 18, Dublin 2
👻 PyLadies Dublin are excited to have Pytch host and run a workshop this Halloween month.
🍕 There will be pizzas to stave away the hunger while you code (so don't forget to let us know your dietary requirements whey registering).
Join us for a workshop where you’ll learn to code in Python by creating your very own Ghost Invaders game using Pytch!
Pytch is a user-friendly coding platform designed to help learners transition from block-based coding (like Scratch) to text-based Python. Pytch extends Python with Scratch-like features such as sprites, events, and sounds, making it perfect for fun learning by creating small games.
You won’t need any prior experience with Scratch or Python!💻 Just bring your laptop, but don't worry if you don’t have one—we'll have extras available for use!
During the session, you’ll follow guided steps to create a simple, customisable game while learning the basics of Python coding in a fun and interactive environment. The platform is co-developed with teachers and students and provides free educational resources like lesson plans and tutorials for continued learning after our workshop.
This workshop is perfect for:
- Aspiring programmers who want to create and design games while learning Python in a beginner-friendly environment. After the workshop, you can continue building your own Pytch games at home!
- Teachers and educators looking for an engaging way to introduce text-based programming to students. You’ll learn how to use Pytch’s free classroom-ready resources, including step-by-step guides and lesson plans.
Pytch is funded by Science Foundation Ireland and led by the School of Computer Science at Trinity College Dublin, in partnership with TU Dublin.
