( or simply click the link - https://what3words.com/owners.chip.drives)Meeting time: 10:00 AM.
We will gather by the entrance to the Iconic Greenwich foot tunnel next to Cuttysark and head East towards Woolich where we aim to arrive in approx 3.5hrs covering approx 6.5 miles.
Similar to the previous walk this will take the path along the river passing through some Green eco-sensitive to ex-industrial to current-industrial landscapes before arriving at Woolwich. Plan is to grab a drink or more at Dial arch situated just in front of the Elizabeth line station. For those looking for a train back to the land of meridian then the NR station is just a couple of minutes walk from the pub.
Things that I usually consider for my walks:
- Food and drink to get through the walk.
- Water: Aleast two litres.
- Day rucksack: That is comfortable to wear and allows free arm movements.
- Walking Boots: waterproof and breathable. trainers are OK if the ground is dry.
- Gaiters: recommended for wet weather conditions.
- Socks: proper walking socks to keep your feet dry and help prevent blisters.
- Layered clothing: helps to quickly adapt to changes in the weather and body temperature. A base layer (vest or t-shirt) and a mid layer (a micro fleece or shirt) and in cooler weather additional outer layer (a windproof jacket or thick fleece)
- Trousers: Ideally no jeans as they become heavy and cold in the rain, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry and on warm days shorts are OK.
- Waterproof jacket: An essential in wet weather.
- Hat or cap: stay warm in winter and shaded in summer
- Sunglasses: Essential for any summer walk
- Sun cream: when the weather dictates.
